En 1750 España y Portugal llegan a un acuerdo para limitar las fronteras de sus Reinos en America del Sur, con esto los pobladores de las misiones en Paraguay pasaran a ser parte de Portugal y con ello a la esclavitud. Tremenda actuación de Robert de Niro y de Jeremy Irons, La Misión es una de las películas más conmovedoras del Siglo XX.

I'm keeping this FOREVER

Went to a small town called La Misión for summer vacation and as I walked the streets I got the most surpising and awesome friendship token ever... from the coolest, sweetest dog ever!

Got out of my aunt's place for a stroll and ran into good boy a few minutes later. And he had SUCH GENTLE EYES and FUR SO SOFT AND BEAUTIFUL!! A German Shepherd and Pitbull mix, I guess. Started calling him 'Otabek' and he didn't seem to dislike it.

After running together for a bit, I sat on the ground to catch my breath.

'Otabek' dug this up, took it between his teeth as gently as he could AND PLACED IT RIGHT ON MY PALM!!!!!

He left after a little while, turns out he had an owner and he was actually looking for good boy. Funny dog, he licked my face as if saying good-bye and left, following his hooman while barking excitedly.

I'll never forget him, that small snail shell is proof of the promise to find each other one more time. Wherever you are, I'll always remember you, good boy 'Otabek'! ❤

You ever visited the Mission District and marveled at the murals? Me too, in fact I grew up on them while walking to my mom's job at SF General Hospital. And one of the most brilliant pieces was painted on the "Women's Building" painted by one of my mentors and biggest mural teachers (SFSU and life) Juana Alicia. In case you didn't know, Juana and the whole crew along with HeyDay Books is making a book about the Maestra Piece which will include writing by activist Angela Davis. Please share this widely. No really, I need input from followers (or followers of followers) who live in Mexico, especially in Baja California or Sonora. I’ve never been, but I’m looking at moving to Northern Mexico in just a few months (partly to be near a friend who was just diagnosed with cancer), and I’m trying to get a feel of where to look for an apartment.

Right now I’m considering the La Misión/Ensenada area, but am open to other parts, as well. Help, please? ( I have one follower who has already been tremendous help with Mexico City, but that’s a bit further from my friend. )

And now I am off to DuoLingo to relearn Spanish, because I haven’t spoken it since 1976, and was never very fluent to begin with.)
