Once again, King Eurystheus will not acknowledge the completion of one of my tasks. This time, he says it is because I received payment for my work. I understand his sentiment, but I was not rewarded for cleaning the Augean stables (although, yes, I was promised a reward).

My plan to clean King Augeas' stables worked well, and every stable was immaculate. However, the King refused to give me the livestock that he had promised me. His actions were completely unjust, and I told him so. Even Augeas' son, Phyleus, believed that his father should stay true to his word.

I am furious. I think I will pay the King of Elis a visit.

I know what I must do to clean these stables. I will dig trenches from the nearby rivers, Alpheus and Peneus, so that water may flow through the Augeas' stables. With a continuous stream of water washing the stables, they will be clean in no time.

Now, where can I find a shovel?

I am currently in Elis, where I am to complete my fifth task: I must clean King Augeas' stables in one day. He houses a great deal of livestock, so every stable is putrid. In fact, the one I pictured above is the most clean stable of them all. 

Thankfully, I have an incentive to clean up this toxic mess. The King of Elis has promised me some of his livestock in return for cleaning his stables.

I will persevere and complete this task as payment for my crimes, but I will need a plan if I am to clean it in a day.
