From my experience, people from Texas are generally more polite and well-educated than people here in the Midwest. Really sad considering how highly people out here think of themselves. As soon as I got here I wanted to leave because it was nothing but others trying to assert themselves over me and attempting to shove me into the Texan stereotype. I tried to explain to a co-worker that Beavis and Butthead are from Ft. Worth (BET MANY PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THAT) and he kept insisting that's impossible because they don't have a Southern accent. Like really?! I don't have an accent and I was raised in Texas (move there when I was four).
