Corinna Mantlo, host of Cine Meccanica (a weekly movie showing at Lady Jay's
633 Grand St in Brooklyn, NY). This Wednesday, April 2, the Cine Meccanica feature will be Death Race 2000 (1975). Mantlo is dedicating the showing to her father, the writer and lawyer Bill Mantlo, who was named the 2014 Bill Finger Award for Excellence in Comic Book Writing.
Pearl's owner planning new bar on Knickerbocker Ave
Mike Ireland, co-owner of Pearl's Social and Billy Club at St. Nicholas and Starr, has teamed up with Gabriel Check and Myles Atherton from Lady Jay's in Williamsburg and Oak & Iron in Greenpoint to create The Three Diamond Door at 211 Knickerbocker Avenue (between Troutman and Jefferson).
Ireland told WyckoffHeights.org that the new venue, in a space formerly occupied by a Kennedy Fried Chicken & Pizza, will be "a neighborhood bar with 16 beers on tap, a full bar, and a comfortable backyard." A liquor license is pending.
