Rosaline froze abruptly, stiff as a statue.

Her right hand was clenched into a fist, so tightly wound that her knuckles were a ghastly white and her claws were causing her palm to bleed. The other had an equally vicious grip on the mechanical rabbit’s oversized bow tie. She had acted without thinking, her fighting instinct violently grabbing the reigns when the creaking creature broke out in a fit of disturbed twitching and unearthly garbled speech. It set off every alarm in her brain, every wall she’d built throwing itself up in a frenzy.

Rosa was terrified. For all she knew Bonnie could very well have been able to overpower her, but she didn’t care. Her reply was enunciated carefully, hissed through sharp teeth; one lone golden eye was wide with both fear and fire.

“Why the hell should I?”
