How to Care for a Laitobat
This is a small How to Guide to inform Laitobat owners how to take care and look after their new pet bat.
1. Like all Diabolik bats, Laitobat is mostly active at night, so make sure before adopting your Laitobat that your life style suites your new pet’s habits. Laitobat is more suited for a single owner rather than a family. Is very comfortable with having other bat companions, male and female. 2. Laitobat is not very picky about his food, but make sure he actually eats his foods and has regular snacks. Laitobat has a tendency to lose weight quickly.
3. Laitobat has a tendency to hump his favorite toys. He prefers squeaky toys of the softer variety. Owners that do not want to hear repetitive high pitch sounds may want to buy soft toys that will not squeak. However, Laitobat may still try to find a replacement. Removing all toys from his grasp will result in aggressive and destructive behavior. 4. Make sure to keep all of Laitobat’s toys clean. Clean them every 2 days or have a rotation, clean some one day and the others the next. Laitobat enjoys clean things, if his toys are soiled he will seek out new things to play with which may result in a scratched up couch or broken personal effects.
5. Make sure to give Laitobat plenty of time out of his cage. Laitobat will not make much of a fuss of being put in his cage if he knows he will be let out a little later. Keeping the cage close to where you do most of your daily activities will also allow Laitobat to feel more comfortable in his little home.
6. When leaving the house, make sure to keep music playing for your Laitobat. Failing to do so will result in a upset Laitobat that will refuse to spend time with you once you are back home. An Owner that does not have a radio or computer to play music should maybe consider getting Laitobat a bat companion. This will allow Laitobat to socialize while you are not home.
7. Keep female bat companions in separate cages from Laitobat. Laitobat, even when not in mating season, will try his luck. 8. Remember that Laitobat can also have his down days and tantrums. If your Laitobat seems gloomy, let him out of his cage and give him some quality time, this may involving playing games or giving him head pats. 9. Remember that Laitobat while in a tantrum will not give you many signs, so make sure to be on the look out for physical and sound queues that may indicate and irritated Laitobat. Laitobat will often tense up his wings ready to deploy them when angry. Laitobat will also let out small growls or hisses to let you know he isn’t having any of it. Laitobat bites hard when pushed to his limit, so don’t force your Laitobat into situations where you may notice aggressive behaviors.
10. Laitobat is one of the most affectionate Diabolik bat. So owners should not be surprised to see Laitobat attempting to climb their shoulder to rest close to their neck or in their shirt. It should also be understood that you may end up getting a little humping action if Laitobat feels very close to you. Don’t worry, it should be taken lightly and understood that it’s his way to show he cares.
