val ....
my little baby...vowel...
in their first iteration, they were like. childhood friends-to-lovers with amarie and they tragically died after being forced to become part of legion zero. i did really like their storyline at the time but i'm very glad i changed it since.
i changed their pronouns from she/they to they/them bc i wanted to make it easier to juggle between referring to them and amarie (who only uses she/her). but now i also ship them with tanlorin who also uses they/them, so i guess that doesn't matter anymore 🤡
their old color scheme used to be yellow, black, and gold before i just changed it to neutral colors. i do still use it for their noble/battlespire looks though (not counting their uniform).
their uncle martus was the closest thing they had to a parental figure who actually cared about them, but their relationship was still incredibly strained at the battlespire. to illustrate, tan's complicated relationship with their mother is more or less how val feels about martus. (with val's own mother, victoria, they absolutely hate her and want nothing to do with her. it's much less nuanced.)
they were born and raised in cheydinhal, but moved to the imperial city for a couple of years before they got into the battlespire. i like to think that maybe they and amarie (before she transitioned) met once in that time period, but nothing beyond that.
their worst fear is becoming like their mother. it's why they took so long to tell amarie that they want to have children with her.
this is more about tanlorin, but i like to think that when they see val and amarie together for the first time, they can really feel how much those two care about each other. idk. like getting hit with a truck but it's made of love and affection.
some of their character inspos are: corky from bound (though that goes for almost all my butch ocs 😭), heather chandler, regina george, and ginger fitzgerald. the latter three are more for battlespire!val though.
i don't want to outright say they are, but i guess you could call them bipolar? i honestly wasn't intending that at first, but i mean. their battlespire playlist does have a lot of them oscillating between being full of themself and of them being depressed/angry about their life. i guess it comes from their lore being heavily inspired by halsey's music :')
i like to think that in a modern au, they'd be a closet emo kid in their teen years/early 20s. like in public they'd still be dressing like the rich ""girl"" they are, but whenever they're alone they'd try teasing their hair or putting on black eyeliner and eyeshadow. they'd be too terrified to dye their hair black, though (even temporarily).
AU where val and amarie's roles in the narrative are shifted. go
at first i felt like ic!val simply wouldn't try to help anyone and they would just escape the city the first chance they'd get, but,,, i also like the idea of them doing the ic questline anyway and being So So scared about it the whole time (i mean, so was amarie, but at least she was brave about it)
and their family backgrounds are the same, with val being from house magia but failing to actually join the spire (which was honestly their original backstory) and amarie still being captain caudex's daughter, but being sent to the spire because she had more of an affinity for magic from her mom's side of the family. (this is just for fun so im not thinking about it too hard 😭)
all of this to say that i like the idea of them meeting at dread cellar and amarie is like, this battlemage-in-training who's actually successful while val just fucking hates her from the start because that's what THEY were supposed to do. not to mention martus of all fucking people being there
and at the end of dread cellar, amarie chooses to desert for similar reasons to lucilla in canon, but
1. she just leaves, she doesn't try to kill martus
2. she chooses to stay with val but their dynamic is more her going "damn bitch you live like this?" and taking things into her own hands to liven things up
do you think the levitation act had any precursors in the second era. i'm imagining the administration banning people from using levitation magic bc they don't have any railings and potentials kept falling off into the void
😭😭 i love the idea of something like that being passed while val is still at the spire and their reaction is "ugh well there goes my plans i guess 🙄"
thank you for Keeping It Real
the way i got so Spooked when i got the message notif lmaoo
thank u :3 i appreciate u 💖
how do you feel about the idea of the tribunal "stealing" the corpse of nerevar from voryn's dying arms and turning him into a bonewalker
While I do like that idea I much prefer the tribunal just abandoning his body not caring for the man that was, he was just just a tool to be used and discarded after he got them the power they desired.
