Lambda Theta Alpha sponsored the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes march on campus yesterday. For this event, individuals who identify as male from all areas of campus volunteered to walk a mile in red heels to literally place themselves in the shoes of a female on a college campus. This incited meaningful discussion on sexual violence, domestic abuse, and sexual assault - especially that on college campuses.

Transgender Day of Remembrance honors victims of transgender hate each Nov. 20. Last Saturday, the Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance (ANCGA) held a virtual vigil paying tribute to all 65 transgender Americans reported to have been murdered in the past year, the deadliest by far. To raise awareness of the issue on SUNY Plattsburgh campus, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority hosted an informative event at ACC Nov. 18.

When Brianna Poole joined Lambda Theta Alpha during her freshman year in college, her sorority sisters nicknamed her “resilient” — and resilient she has been....
Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, there will be no pomp and circumstance for Poole, a senior at the University of Memphis, to march to next month, but nevertheless, she will be the first one in her biological family to graduate college. Without a traditional graduation ceremony to look forward to, Poole is looking toward her future, planning her next endeavor. She is applying to get her master’s degree in social work at the U of M next year.
