tfw you realize your dnd character is Disney’s Aladdin
25, 15, 18, 11
They see a magical wand, do they touch it?
It’s probably his, so yes.
Actually he uses a crystal, not a wand, but I imagine he cycles through focuses. And if he found someone else’s wand, I think that would be a source of curiousity for him. So definitely he touches it.
Have they ever been kicked in the knee caps before?
Ow. Probably? I doubt it’s happened often. Maybe only once. But it has probably happened, because he’s not nearly as charming as he thinks he is, and even if his charisma is pretty high, he has no idea how to direct it a lot of the time.
How many different knots can they tie?
Probably not many tbh. He’s been on his own for a while, and he’s not exactly incapable of taking care of himself, and his history as an acolyte means he probably has some experience with maintaining the grounds, so he probably has enough knowledge to tighten things and tie things down.
But I imagine it’s just as likely just a bunch of triple knots as it is any kind of fancy purposeful thing
Would they much rather own a three headed dog or a two headed cat?
Both. Why chose?
35 - A frog appears out of nowhere and starts to critize their life choices, what does Lance do
He probably listens! For a while I gave him beast speech (I switched it when I leveled him up though) so if a frog did start critiquing him he actually MIGHT be able to understand it... though it would maybe hold the same weight as any random person’s criticism: a learning experience but not really something to look into too intently. It’s just this frog’s opinion.
If he realized it was speaking one of the other languages he speaks, that might be cause for concern. Maybe its his pal the Fiend trying to tell him something?
Or it could just be a magic user nearby! He has a friend who makes little birds to talk through so it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
He’s definitely have a think about this.
I think the one certainty is that he wouldn’t be too shocked by this. Stranger things have happened, and most of them aren’t nearly as adorable as a talking frog.
oh hey i randomized more questions from that meme a while back but apparently saved it to drafts instead of posting it
9. Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?
I guess. It's a bit complicated because he went from a part of a forbidden sect to basically a wandering sightseer, and I'm not sure either can be classified easily... But either way, it is different.
It's also a step above what he would have had if he'd never gotten sick. He would have been a poor peasant and likely never would have had access to all the things that, to him, make life worth living. As far as he’s concerned, the timeline where he never caught the plague and became an orphan is definitely the darker one.
17. What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?
I can see him with a doll, probably a wooden one. A little friend to cling to and play with and wear down that could withstand getting knocked around through a little boy's rough play and fill any role in a game of pretend it was called upon to fill.
Since his dad was a woodcarver, it would maybe be from him. Something he had with him to comfort him through his illness.
I think Lance left it behind when he left the temple.
28. How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation?
If he has the choice and it's not too late or too far gone, he's going to try to de-escalate wherever he can. He's not a violent person and he's not a fan of killing, though he'll do it if he thinks he has to. He would really rather not have to though.
Unfortunately he's incredibly weak, so self defense needs to be a little more preeminent than he's really happy about. If things turn violent he needs to finish things quickly.
30. What does your character find repulsive or disgusting?
Dirt, grime, squalor, illness, fishing through the garbage, etc.
Those are the only things he would really describe using those terms.
36. How does your character behave around people they dislike?
(Openly) disliking people is a bit of a new concept for him. He's friendly! He's nice! He's optimistic! He'll give everyone a chance!
But he does have a few people he dislikes regardless.
Normally he'll squash the feeling down. They're fine, they're fine, he's just misreading. It's rude to harshly judge. Give them a chance. He'll be on edge and a little more observant but otherwise he tries to force a smile and give them a chance.
However, he recently met someone who turned down his chances and he kind of hates her??? And that's really weird???? And it shows itself in the form of petty passive aggression, pranks, and small acts of sabotage.
Actually, it's kind of fun.
was bored so i rolled my new d20 a few times to pick some questions to answer. I got 20 twice (!!!) so I added a d10 to the second one
3, 7, 9, 13, 20, 26 for Lance
6 and 13???
Oh no, your oc is hungry and no money, what do they do?
You ever see a half orc charm his way into a banquet full of elites and nobles and sit at their table to share a meal?
No?
Well you’re about to. What he lacks in charm, he makes up for with persistence. And he’s got a whole lot of charm.
If they knew the only way to get the chocolate cake was do murder the guard, guarding it, would they?
Murder!? For chocolate cake!? Of course he’s not going to kill for cake. He doesn’t even like cake that much.
But murder being the only option sounds ridiculously uncreative. Why can’t he just talk the guard into letting him have it? Why can’t he join the organization that hired the guard, take over the guard position, and then take the cake? Why can’t he charm the guard onto his side? Why can’t he just ask?
It’s not that he hasn’t killed before and wouldn’t again if he had to... it’s just... kinda pointless if its just about a piece of chocolate cake. Cake isn’t worth someone’s life. That’s like... a rule.
Actually thinking about that is kind of... uncomfortable. What is a life worth? Cake isn’t worth it to him, but it’s not like he’s not a fan of luxuries... and... what about fine clothes and fresh, hot meals? What about gold and riches and a charmed life? What about a library full of knowledge and the power to shape the world as he sees fit?
Are they worth it...?
Well... well uh... he... it’s kind of... so the thing...
the thing is...
...
HE DOESN’T NEED THE CAKE.
1, 9, 21 for Lance?
Would your OC ever accessorize with a cape?
ABSOLUTELY.
I imagine his usual garb i pretty cape-heavy. It’s great because its both dramatic and form concealing, so he can use it to try to pretend he’s a hell of a lot tougher than he actually is. But that dramatic effect is the main reason. I like to think he wastes a lot of money on cool capes.
What would their username be on tumblr?
hmm... as of right now, I have no idea. I imagine he would have a bunch of accounts and rarely use any of them. Maybe he’d use whatever default name got generated for him on fantasy tumblr. I don’t see him actually maintaining a presence on a blog. He’s probably got one of those 1000s of likes and no posts blogs.
Lurker boy.
If they had to hike up a mountain, what would their attitude be going up?
I think at the start he’d be DOWN. He’s be so excited. Climbing up a moutain? Seeing the sights!? Great! Awesome! Sign him up!
And I think for a while, he’d be doing fine. Sure it’s challenging and tough work, but hey he’s not spoiled. He’s not weak. He can handle things! But maybe... maybe he should take a few breaks.
And then the sun starts setting and he is stuck a third of the way up a mountain, because he assumed this would take, like, an hour or something. And he didn’t pack for this. And he didn’t plan out how to spend the night. And he didn’t prepare any spells for this scenario. And he doesn’t have any books. And he’s all alone.
He would probably try to maintain a positive outlook after that, still, but it’s absolutely forced and fake from that point on, and once he reaches the summit he’s barely even impressed. Because he has to focus that brewing negativity somewhere, and it might as well be at the disappointment at the view.
Once he finally gets back down, he regrets how much he didn’t allow himself to enjoy the moment while he had it, and wonders if there’s something that he missed.
Maybe he decides to try again sometime, but I doubt he ever does.
