imagine richie in school and all the teachers always pronounce his name wrong on the call sheet and richie always says that they’re right no matter the pronunciation and the whole school basically pronounces his last name differently and then there’s eddie who SIGHS and screeches “IT’S TOE-ZEE-AY” and richie smiles fondly and goes “that’s not even close to it, eds. only the first syllable was correct” and eddie huffs and is like “I DECIDE HOW TO PRONOUNCE YOUR NAME, I’M TAKING IT SOMEDAY ANYWAY”

this is so REAL im yellinghfjd and you know that from then on, richies whipped ass pronounces it ‘toe-zee-ay’

“If you had asked me to stay, I would’ve,” Eddie says, and it has been so long since Richie has seen him; now Richie is living with Beverly and creating a new life for himself. His mind still strays to Eddie, back to that night, but Eddie has never showed himself like this. Perhaps it should be unsettling, with Richie’s knowledge of his mind previously playing tricks on him, but as he stares at Eddie hugging his dark purple sweater tightly to his scarred chest, Richie likes to think this is a form of Eddie prompted by 5555. He looks so soft, like he used to. With darkened freckles and shaggy hair. Just staring is enough to make Richie’s heart swell. 

Tears well up in Richie’s eyes. He feels them fall but does not bother to wipe them away. Part of him worries if he looks away from Eddie it will be too late to confess. Too late to echo the feelings they have both always had. On this night, Richie is not afraid. He smiles  with crooked teeth, and he says, without an ounce of doubt, “Me too.”
