Time For Langst
Lance groaned, sitting up. Keith turned and smiled. "Hey, you're finally up."
"Yeah, no shit." Lance said, leaning on his elbows. "How long was I out?"
Keith shrugged. "This planet is bigger than Earth, so the days are off. A day or two?"
Lance groaned again, flopping back down. "How'd the mission go? Is everyone safe?"
"Yeah. Shiro left in the Black lion to find the Castle and escort them back here. Communications and trackers are down. He didn't think it was safe to move you when he left." Keith explained, sitting down near Lance.
"That bad, huh?" Lance said, humor lacing through his words.
Keith scoffed. "You could've died you know."
"Yeah, it's not the first time."
Keith rolled his eyes. Lance smirked. He tried to sit up again, but a sharp pain in his side made him gasp and he leaned back, trying to avoid whatever hurt him.
"Let me check your bandages." Keith said, scooting closer to him.
Lance gently pulled back the thin blanket to reveal a swath of bandages around his torso, and red blossoms staining them on his right side.
Keith hissed through his teeth, then turned for more bandages. He pulled them out of a brown cloth bag the people of this planet must've given him. Carefully, he unwound the ones around Lance's chest. The wound underneath was ugly. Burns bubbled around a deep gash, held together by hasty stitches. Blood leaked between the stitches, not enough for major concern yet, but still more than Keith would've liked.
"That is seriously nasty." Lance declared.
"Don't talk about yourself that way." Keith said, picking up the spare bandages and starting to wrap them around Lance.
Lance huffed, grinning. He watched as Keith moved the bandages around his chest with a careful precision that he'd never master. Slowly, the gash in his side disappeared from view as bandages covered it.
"Thanks." Lance said, not knowing what else to say after that quiet moment.
Keith nodded, wadding up the old bandages and putting them in what looked like a Walmart bag. "Shiro should be back soon. With the Castle they'd be able to wormhole here in seconds."
"With tracking down, how would they have the wormhole go to the right coordinates?"
"It's a different thing, Lance." Keith said, slightly annoyed.
"Hey, how was I supposed to know that?" Lance said defiantly.
Keith scoffed, turning away.
Lance fiddled with the edge of the blanket and the moments passed. "So, anything new with you and Hunk?"
"I miss him." Keith blurted out. He mentally kicked himself.
"I miss Pidge. Little gremlin child." He laughed, and gasped from a spark of pain in his side.
Keith laughed at Lance's description of his girlfriend. "She could totally kick your ass."
"As if! I could step on her and she'd die."
"She already nerfed you once, dumbass. As soon as we got out bayards she got you."
"Hey, I've gotten her plenty of times!"
"Okay, when?"
The two of them kept talking until the stars came out, illuminating the night in a pale pink glow.
