Apologies for the very random question from a non-native German speaker to a native one: am I right that it's "Wolke Sieben" (cloud seven) in German rather than Cloud Nine? Or did I make that up? I'm misremembering a lot of idiomatic German at the moment and it's driving me nuts as I just end up speaking gibberish.
You‘re absolutely right. It‘s Wolke Sieben - and that‘s something that’s been driving me nuts ever since little!me learned that, apparently, German and English speakers dwell on different clouds when we’re in love. Why is that? And why do clouds have numbers? Is that like an address? So they know where to forward your mail to? Oh, and, hey, I know you didn’t ask for a rambling, confused language nerd’s thoughts, so yes, yes it’s cloud seven. :D
