I’m that millennial cusp where Blockbuster was phasing into Netflix near the end of high school— and I miss the video store rental vibes 📼 154 of my random favorite horror movies from the 70s-90s, printed on card stock and wrapped one by one around cardboard bits. After reading a post by @lastoneout about their Trolls Tangled AU I decided to draw Branch & Poppy during the Lantern Scene.
I also love the idea of Branch & Poppy being Eugine & Rapunzel, also I agree that “I can see the Light” suits them very both.

Finished a library lantern a couple weeks back and forgot to post 📚💕
Lantern found at an antique mall, all the books made by me, shelves are popsicle sticks, knickknacks collected from miniature shops when I was younger.
In the boat, when Rapunzel notices [her parents'] lantern dip down toward them, she gets excited and does a form of her happiness wiggle. And part of that, is reaching her left hand across herself towards Eugene to get his attention to point it out to him, possibly tapping his hand just out of frame. SHE -not he- REACHED FOR HIS HAND *FIRST* ~Then he reached out and took her hand. This changes everything. He wasn't just watching for an opening, where she looked happy enough to not rebuke him, where he hoped she might be receptive, where he was so damn enthralled watching her that he just went for it, possibly without thinking-- No. She SIGNALED him, loud and clear. SHE signaled HIM. Him taking her hand then looks more like a "No- wait, come back!" instead of an initiating declaration. Still bold & so sweet, but now I see more of that lovesick puppy Eugene in there. 😊💜💛💜💛
