(1/2) Ever since i first read Defender I’ve had this idea that, as Roman gets older, Remus takes to following him a bit at revels. Because while Roman’s witchiness stays strong, I imagine he’d be like the older family/friends I’ve seen who used to be very physical and then struggle to adjust as age changes their limitations. And i imagine Remus standing behind Roman doing “I’m watching you” motions but when Roman turns he acts like he’s just nodding along with Roman’s threats.
(2/2) Roman: “idk why L&V fuss about me getting my own drink, that troll was terrified when i told him to back off.” Remus, hiding the large knife he used to mime stabbing the troll repeatedly while standing just out of Roman’s peripheral vision: “yes, that troll sure was scared, i doubt he’ll cause trouble again!!” (Bell, who appeared behind Remus at some point but neither of them noticed: “yes, we won’t see that troll at another revel. Ever.”)

Ok now that I got that out of my system I have a question- did Bell resent Durant for what he did to Greta and Virgil? Did that also play a part in her decision to "betray" Durant (aside from her friendship with Roman)
okay so, Bell never actually spoke to either one of them so i will admit all of this was a very parasocial relationship on her part, but short answer yes
long answer - when Durant managed to mislead the court into believing that Greta had betrayed and killed Virgil, Bell was absolutely, utterly devastated
She idolized Virgil and Greta, everything about them - Virgil as the benevolent but distant lord of the forest who was always fair and kind but mindbogglingly powerful, Greta as a mortal who could keep up with fae (perceived by Bell as a trait that was probably completely unique among mortals and therefore worthy of awe) and their friendship itself as something that transcended the divide between mortals and fae.
She adored them in the way only a ten year old girl can truly adore an idol. Bell wanted to be a knight for Virgil for as long as she or anyone who knew her can remember.
and then, as far as she knew, Greta murdered Virgil in cold blood one day for no reason whatsoever.
it crushed her. It honestly made her not a bit bitter for a very long time, that something she'd thought of for so long as something amazing and untouchable could be ruined so completely. And When Greta finally died, and Durant presented her imprisonment as the monster as her punishment for betraying Virgil, that bitterness meant that Bell absolutely, 100% believed that Greta deserved it.
So please imagine her horror when after fifty years of said imprisonment, Virgil shows up, very clearly not dead, and it becomes immediately obvious that she and everyone in the court have been duped by Durant, and Greta is being tortured for a crime she did not commit.
The only thing surprising about Bell immediately throwing her hat on Virgil's side of the ring is that it took her ever so slightly longer than five whole seconds.
