Significance & Uses of Optical Mirrors
Optical mirrors are used in a diverse range of optical industrial sectors. Their applications depend upon the characteristics of optical mirrors. There are different kinds of optical mirrors suitable for different industrial applications.
Hot mirror:-
Hot mirror transmits visible light and reflects IR so as to safeguard heat-sensitive elements by reflecting IR energy. They are highly transparent for visible light, efficient in blocking thermal energy, high color neutrality.
Laser Mirror:-
The Laser mirror is used in laser resonators and other optical components. These mirrors are designed for specific laser types or wavelengths. Some of them come with dielectric coatings and are optimized for high reflectance at specific laser wavelengths.
Cold mirror:-
Cold mirrors reflect visible light and transmit IR and are used for reducing the heat load in an optical system. For instance, when image projectors contain some type of incandescent lamp, there is a need to deal with substantial heat load on the optical system. Cold mirrors reflect the visible light and transmitting or absorbing most of the infrared light. They are also called dielectric mirrors. They are ideal for projection applications and for use as low- and high-pass filter
