Day 31! - Spooky

It was chaos. Kara was standing by the TV, supposedly setting up a movie but in reality arguing with Winn across the room about which was the best Harry Potter. James and Alex were having a pretend lightsaber/ sword battle, and Nia, Brainy and Kelly were discussing the best costumes they’d seen that night.

They had agreed that the kids could have three of the candies they’d got trick or treating each, two of which were still on the coffee table, and yet they both seemed to have more energy than ever. Lori was jumping on the couch, threatening to eat everyone’s brains (luckily she didn’t have all her powers yet so the couch didn’t suffer too much damage) and Jem was stomping around and roaring in his dinosaur onesie, occasionally returning to Kelly to eat another skittle from the packet she was holding for him.

Krypto was happily woofing along with Jem’s roars, the set of wings Kara had attached to her flopping around as she moved. Kara had somehow convinced Lena that they should dress as Hercules and Meg (with Krypto as Pegasus) and Lena had to admit she was a fan of all the muscle on display.

“Aha!” Lena grabbed Lori around the middle and lifted her off the couch and onto the floor as she squealed. “Alright monkey, go tell Mama she better put a movie on soon or you won’t have time to watch it all before bed.”

Lori gasped and ran off to complete her mission.

Jem plodded up to her and roared. Krypto woofed and panted happily beside him.

Lena put a hand over her heart in fake shock. “Oh no! Not a scary dinosaur and a pegasus! Whatever shall I do?”

Jem giggled and stomped his feet, the colourful lights in his sneakers flashing at the movement.

She gasped. “I know…” She leaned forward conspiratorially and Jem tilted his head in curiosity. “I’ll have to tickle him!”

He shrieked with laughter as she tickled his sides, turning to run away but she pulled him into a hug. She grinned and let him wiggle free.

“Why don’t you go and help Kara choose a movie?”

Jem lit up and ran off to where Kara was swinging Lori backwards and forwards as she hung from one of Kara’s arms, clearly having forgotten about her mission.

Everyone slowly drifted to the couches while Kara finally turned on the TV.

Nia poked Lena on the way past, dressed in a lab coat that Lena was fairly certain was one of her own. “Have I told you how much I love your and Kara’s costumes? Because they are amazing.” She continued walking backwards away from her. “Also… you are so whipped.”

Lena just laughed. She let herself be tugged over to one of the couches by Lori and helped her open a pack of m&ms as she sat down beside Alex, Lori bouncing up and down in front of her.

Jem ran over and climbed up onto the couch clumsily, snuggling in between Alex and Kelly.

“What are we watching, Jem?”

He wiggled excitedly. “Frozen!”

Alex frowned. “That’s not a spooky movie.”

Kelly whacked her arm as Jem pouted up at her and Alex backtracked. “But it is a very good movie! Great choice, dinosaur.”

Jem beamed and turned back to the screen.

Kara was just turning the lights off as the music started. She ran over and flopped down next to Lena, pulling Lori into her lap to stop her blocking the screen. She leaned over and kissed Lena’s cheek quickly.

Lena smiled and kissed her back.

“Happy Halloween.”

She relaxed into Kara’s side as Lori leaned back against her chest.

Her family had gotten a lot bigger over the last decade. Sure, they were a little weird (she looked around at Winn the ghostbuster, James the jedi, Nia as Dr Frankenstein and Brainy as Frankenstein’s monster, Kelly the vampire, Alex the skeleton knight, Jem the dinosaur, Lori the zombie, Kara as Hercules, and Krypto as Pegasus) but she wouldn’t change them for anything.

Kings and Queens (Kacchako Collab)

Other Notes: I had no idea how to do this^^; I feel that it was awkward and a little forced (though it seems not everyone agrees with this thought) which is why it isn’t even a 1k word count, unfortunately. I love @unratedpizza‘s comic adaption of it (here) and I can’t stop smiling. Thank you so much for the opportunity to collaborate and I really hope we get to do it again!!! "So....Anybody got a crush?"

The girls of Class 1-A are in Momo's room, their monthly sleepover taking place. Mina is laying her head on Hagakure's legs, reading a magazine. Momo, Jiro and Ochako sit side by side, painting one another's nails as Tsu hangs over the edge of Momo's bed. It's been a causal evening so far. They played a few games--mostly Truth or Dare--that ended with the girls getting a visit from one of Momo"s neighbors for being too loud. It isn’t close to being the time the would normally all fall asleep, and while the room has a mostly calm atmosphere, there is an underlying restlessness to their chilled activities. Now, the conversation has taken an interesting turn, and everyone's tuned in. Almost immediately, Jiro points to Momo and says, "Momo does!" Mina sits up, raising a brow at her creative friend. "Really?" Momo is trying her best not to blush, and Ochako can tell. She puts the top on the dark polish she was using for Jiro's hand, tapping the girl lightly to signal she's finished. When Ochako turns her attention back to the gossip-hungry Mina Ashido, she prays no one tries prying information from her. "Is it Sero?" "No...." "Iida?" Momo hangs her head as Jiro continues to answer Mina and Hagakure's back and forth guessing. Ochako has a good guess of who it is, being one of his friends. But she isn't going to say anything other than her drowned out, “Leave her be.” Then Mina calls out Bakugo and it's as if the entire room moves in unison to stare at her. She closes her mouth, not at all liking the attention when it comes to such a troublesome person. Hagakure not-so-secretly whispers to Mina, "Wait... Isn't he Ochako's crush?" Before Ochako can deny it, Mina jumps in, an all too-wide grin on her face. "Why else would we call them the King and Queen? They balance each other perfectly." As the room erupts into laughter and agreement, Ochako's face on fire. He classmates have been calling her "Gravity Queen" for a while. At first, she thought it was...well, because she is the gravity girl around; the one and only--not to mention--the best. She actually liked the name. It wasn't until some of her classmates (the boys mostly) began actually calling Bakugo King Explosion that the realization hit her. Aside from coming up with names for herself and Bakugo, classmates have been almost hellbent on getting the two of them together. It got worse when Ochako and Bakugo actually began to be seen together, mostly before or after school when they’re heading back to the main campus from training. It was one of the few options they had to actually train; when no one was around so none of them could get a gleam of what they were doing until they were ready to show it. Rumors began to spread like wildfire and from there, Ochako has been the subject of gossip for her classmates. Tonight, she was hoping to avoid it, however lofty that idea was. She closes her eyes, trying to block out the excited chatter that has taken over the room, remembering what it was like to be called a queen from someone who wasn't just teasing her with the name. --- The sun is bright. Ochako is dirty from hitting the ground so much, and pretty sure that last landing was on a rock. She has gone through Bakugo's warm-ups and now it’s time for trying to perfect his ideas for their combined quirk training. The latter is something they have been going at for hours, and Ochako feels her mind buzzing. She flips brown strands from her eyes as she pushes herself from the ground. "Do it again, Uraraka. This time, try the twist as you're going into the half backflip." Bakugo stands meters away, crossed arms dropping to the platform he's going to push her out of as she stands. “Keep your form,” he adds. “ You began dropping last time because you weren’t focused.” "Whatever you say, my King," Ochako grunts more in annoyance than actually meaning it. She's tired, but being pushed past her limits is something she wanted. With a shake of her head, she breaks into a sprint ready to make the leap into Katsuki's hand. Just inches away--right as she’s jumping into the air--he pulls away. Ochako would have ended up kicking him in his stomach if he hadn't caught her foot and took a step backwards from her knees.

He pulls her down, and, too shocked that he broke the routine, Ochako lets him. His gaze is warm as he wraps his arms tighter around her. Ochako stares up at him, being held as she is bridal style. Her breath catches as he dips his head, placing a surprising peck on her lips. When he pulls back his eyes are all laughter.

"I almost like that as much as calling you my queen, Ochako,” he says.

Ochako shoves him, jumping down from his hold. She spins on her heel, face on fire. “I didn’t mean it!” she half-shouts. She had been so ready to land this move. She knows that she would have made it if he hadn’t--not!

Behind her, the boy just laughs. It’s still his usual condescending bark, but Ochako can hear more notes of amusement not at all tied to making fun of her. “Say exactly what you mean then.”

“Don’t break the routine,” she grumbles. The sun is in her eyes and she covers them, staring across the dirt ground. She isn’t really upset that he broke the routine--just a little--but more so embarrassed that he actually like being called a king. Especially by her.

“Whatever you say, Queen Gravity.”
