It happened overnight – the sudden and nearly silent shift from fall to winter. Snow is falling in all areas of the park. In West Glacier we already have several inches of snow accumulated on the ground with more snow falling. One park employee woke up this morning, saw a fresh blanket of snow outside, and decided to cross-country ski to work. 

As we break out the snow shovels, and pile on warm layers, we welcome winter and all the exciting recreational opportunities that it brings. Ski days! Snowshoe walks! Winter camping! We welcome the quiet moments, too, like taking a minute to walk outside just to watch the snow swirl around and wonder how much longer the golden yellow leaves will cling to the trees.
