"You gotta let go, Y. They're gone now."
The words were rich coming from Riley -- she was nowhere ready to let go of the death of her friend. It had been several months, but the quote in the back of Riley's mind, 'time heals all wounds', still hadn't come into play. They were standing over the makeshift graves they had made prior to their journey in finding the Fireflies. Their friends weren't really buried there -- it was more of a shrine dedicated to them.
"C'mon. Let's get going."

Eyes glowing a bright shade of red, the bird let out a shrill screech upon sighting the hot flame. Violently flapping his mechanical wings, the bird hoped to kill the fire, maybe even the kid wielding the flame.

"bUT, WE’RE JUST GOING TO SHOOT HER AND LEAVE HER HERE?????"
"Lower your goddamn voice." She hissed at him. "It was a mistake--but there's no way we can get out of this with her. Leave her."

"Do you ever wonder if the stars shine out for you?" When the question came to mind, she was quick to ask--even if it meant interrupting the boy in the middle of his sentence. They were sitting on the rooftop--stargazing, if you will. Her question could have been interpreted many different ways.
When the night grew to its later hours, Riley's poetic side began to show. Whether it was questioning the meaning of life, or asking obscure questions, she always thought a bit too much. Either that or the strong alcohol in her system. Oops. She looked over at Yoyo with a sigh. Leaning her head against his shoulder, she apologized for being clingy. She knew from before the outbreak that she would get that way when drinking.
"Is it weird to still miss them? I never knew Beat... But he seemed like a nice guy." They hadn't talked about those they lost since that first night. It seemed so long ago. "And Ellie... She was friends with all of you." Riley laughed. "I was so jealous that I had to share her."
"Another life that's gone to waste."
She spoke aloud, filled with even more emotion than before. She was usually able to keep her feelings under control, but that's what she got for getting intoxicated. With a sigh, she began to snooze off on the boy's shoulder. She made it through the night without crying--she hadn't cried since that night. And even then, she refused to cry in front of the kid.
