For the dermatillomania anon: I've had this happen quite a few times, and it's scary. The best thing you can do is to wash the area regularly with soap and warm water, and apply antibiotic ointment every time. If it doesn't go away, or if it spreads, you need to see a doctor, because you might have a staph infection. Those are potentially life-threatening, and it's important to act immediately. Also ask your doctor about getting Mupirocin, which is an ointment which helps prevent staph.

For the anon asking about mental illness and coping with life: It's definitely not just you and it's definitely not exclusive to BPD. I think a lot of us get completely overwhelmed by life, until functioning becomes a luxury or a near impossibility. For some people, this does ultimately lead up to suicidality. But for most, it's just a seemingly endless limbo period. It's usually a good time to seek help, if that's an option. I hope things turn out well for you.
