The Ones Who Grew Up Too Fast
I guess this poem, is pretty ad-lib.
And if happiness was a game, I’d be calling first dibs.
I grew up too fast, much quicker than most.
And as I tell you this, it is nothing to boast.
For those who know, it’s a pretty hard task,
All of your happiness, you’ll have to mask.
No one can see, all the grown-ups having fun,
You’re only 13, and daddy’s eldest son.
Set an example, for the kids at the park
No laughing or cheering, “let the kids make their mark”.
But what about us, the ‘big kids’ in the den,
“But you’re older than her, she’s only ten!”
Where is our fun, and all of our games?
“I grew up too fast!” “Well isn’t that a shame!”
The adults grew up too, just slower than us,
They took their time but we had to rush.
Saying “You need to be mature!” but also “Make your time last.”
This is for us, he ones who grew up too fast.
