Laura looked at him, somewhat shocked at his admission. Although, as shocked as she was, she still admired the fact that Caleb had had the gall to to say that to her. Leaning forwards, she placed her hands on his chest and pressed a light kiss to his forehead. “That’s sweet of you to say, Caleb... I just... I don’t feel like I’m the girl you deserve to have. Considering what I’ve done?” She sighed and nuzzled her nose against his. “I care about you so much... But it’s not fair to you.”

“How would everyone think about that?” He asked, a hand raising to the back of his neck. Caleb was somewhat confused considering they were both supposed to be married, people would obviously suspect something wasn’t right if they didn’t display some sort of PDA right? “Or you know what? We can just say it’s against our religion to display public affection.” At this point he knew he was rambling, as he scooted closer and wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled Laura in closer, but right before their lips met he whispered. “Alright. I’ll shut the fuck up so you can kiss me.” And with that, Caleb crashed his lips hard against hers.

Laura looked up from her magazine, the constant clicking of the help button was beginning to get on her nerves, and she shot Caleb a glance. She was the one in the hospital gown, and she was less stressed out than he was. “You know that button only works every five seconds, right?” She questioned, placing the magazine down on her lap. “You need to chill out with the damn button, otherwise I’m going to strangle you with the chord.”

Laura looked at him with her head cocked to the side. She’d been sitting in the chair beside his bed for the past few hours, watching CNN while he babbled on or checked his phone. “It’s not the good kind of high, you know that right? You’re going to be in pain if you don’t take the prescriptions.” She told him, sitting up and patting his thigh. “I think any fun you’ll get out of this is when they knock you out and you sleep.”

“What…the…” Caleb was questioning if he really should finish that last part of the sentence. “FUCK!?” Oh well, he just did. This couldn’t be happening right now, they were just about be released from this suburban hell hole and now Grace…err Laura….had to go and fucking pull this shit on him? “No. Seriously? It can’t fucking be, you had of went off and fucked someone else. I mean all you do is make fucking soaps all day, it’s bound for you to get that lonely housewife syndrome and fuck our pool boy or something.”

He walked off from the couch, heading towards the door. He needed fresh air and time to think. There’s no possible way this kid is his, it couldn’t be. Caleb barley knew how to take care of himself yet alone a child. Eyes met with the woman who sat down on the couch still, seeing the tears wanting to stream down her face but she fought so hard not to let him see it. 

“I’m sorry. I can’t.” And Caleb opened the door and left, slamming it shut behind him as he began letting tears fall from his eyes.

They had received a letter from the WPP director, and because they’d been undercover for six months, and were undercover as a young couple, she supposed that the director thought that it would make sense for the two of them to have a kid. She looked at him with a cocked brow. “Do you mean that as in they’re giving us a kid, like we’re going through the process of adoption, or like you and I have to have sex?” He was after all, the one that was holding the paper that they’d sent.
