I applaud you. You know I keep telling you are one of my fave posters. That wife is lucky to have you. That gifset fucked me up in ways because it kept me going back to 2B. I don’t know if the writers did this purposely with Alec. Alec viewed himself choosing Magnus in season 1 from a white, male point of view. Alec is valid in his reasoning but it confirms to me Magnus will and could loose a lot more. Magnus lost Ragnor right after. Due to a decision made in 2B he was removed from his position.

This will take a minute. All in my feelings. In 2B the Seelie Queen manipulated Magnus and jerked him around like a chain then used his feeling for Alec against him but I couldn’t find the lie when she said Shadowhunters are unreliable and the Clave is worst. Things were worse when his credibility was shot when Alec lied about the soul sword also. I guess my point is Shadowhunters clearly show us white supremacy at work even in the Shadow-World and fans ignore this until 3A.

All of this commentary over a gifset. One thing I see is that Alec is provided with the tools to unlearn his conditioning, training and racism. Again from season 2, is where he really questioned everything. Magnus also sacrificed his magic as well to stop Lilth and helping Alec. I just wonder what the writers will do next. I love Malec but I want more content and hopefully some follow up after 2x12 happened too with the immortality vs mortal vs death. I just want it all.

I’m really hoping for more content. It sucks because they talk a lot about stuff for them but we don’t end up seeing as much of it as I’d like. But it comes down to really believing that the show would thrive if they would focus on the downworlders and on malec. Instead of pushing this white savoir nonsense on us with Jace and Clary. Nothing is going to convince me that it wouldn’t be better that way. 

But I’m always torn between being really critical and disappointed and really loving it because we do get a lot, considering. You know?

But yeah, they’ve shown how the Clave works and how shadowhunters work. But that gif set really hit home that Alec had all these fears, but it’s Magnus who is losing these things that matter so much to him. And I don’t think he thinks twice about it, really. He’s a good man with a good soul and he loves Alec. And its not even like I don’t think Alec loves him, because god he loves him so much. But I do want him to really look at Magnus and see what he gave up and really feel something about that. 

But in the end I really feel like the show does 87% well by Malec. Like there’s hiccups and room for improvement, but they’ve given us a good and healthy love story, and that always makes me happy. And while the audience tends to forget the importance of this being an interracial relationship the writers- mostly, mostly, not always DEF not always- don’t.
