Kauhucon and other tales
so last week-end I went off-grid with Her and also to Kauhucon , the third horror con in Helsinki. Kauhu is horror in finnish.
It was set in library on rikhardinkatu and we only went on sunday as I only got there after-work and after seeing Shazam! with my son on friday and on saturday we went on Her godchilds birthday party.
Yes both me and Her are godparents to several kids even though we are atheists. I guess the actual parents thought more of the ways of OLD GODS or Mario Puzo’s view of world.
Anyways there was lecture on location in horror by finnish author Marko Hautala
that gave some ideas.
Due to illness of another Guest of honor we got to listen to Anders Fager a swedish author
yes he is a very good speaker and so unearthly the camera focuses to the backs of women’s heads in attempt of self-preservation.
A very pleasant guy who signed my copy of Pohjoiset kultit (Svenska kulter) with quite nice rendition of Cthulhu.
Then there was lecture on said Cthulhu and Mythos by Lauri Lattu
no, it was quite not that coherent the image makes it out to be. Rather it was excited and informed display that showed also the sides of Lovecraft that were not that appealing too.
the doggo approved too
I got loads of horrorbooks (and prior to that a medieval black metal vampire gore comic, Realms of the Damned Sigil Draconis) and also a new part of my interior decoration
Yes, a skull of a fox. Call him Konrad the dead fox. I tried to explain Konrad would be a good add in the dog’s attire too, you know as an pre-emptive warning. Bit like my necklace of human teeth.
Oddly She did not warm to the idea. Either that is.
So if you are interested in horror genre and live in Finland remember that come next april
