storm-age: Ashley is xenophobic, not racist. It’s a part of her character and she grows out of it by the third game (if she lives). Not sure if you were trying to say she’s NOT xenophobic, and only Garrus fans think she is, but...she literally is. Then she gets better. Good for her.
racist.. xenophobic..........., ok whatever idc about words?? this... is not the point of the post. i don’t mean to be rude i’m saying this very matter of factly and calm but idk what you’re trying to accomplish here. no, i was not implying that. i promise you we know. u don’t have to tell ash fans cos literally no one ever in the history of this decade old franchise has tried to defend ash saying she has not expressed anything wrong. we know she has said bad stuff, we know she grows out of it, we know this is character development. none of us need anyone to tell us this. i promise you i have seen this opinion and reply more times than you can imagine. i don’t need someone to come onto my post to tell me this like it’s brand new information???
that response and my original post is about garrus and his fans, who do not allow her this, yet excuse garrus’ own racist/xenophobic comments and act like ash has no char dev. that section of fandom is the only one who openly and repeatedly, over many long years, slammed ash. the problem isn’t about ashley’s personality or a narrative analysis about her writing, it’s about fandom and specifically, garrus fandom behaviour.

i mean shepard’s a super special space cop too what with the spectre status and all and it’s unavoidable in the me universe so i’m also meh about gary but damn his fandom continues to prove to be the most insufferable of everyone. i just about borderline like him cos it’s also near impossible not to, since the game insists on making him your shep’s bff and gives him a lot of screentime and dialogue akin to that so it’s just??? difficult to entirely divorce player and character emotions in this case for him. but i’m always like ok can y’all fans shut the fuck up and leave other characters alone cos fr literally no one else pits squadmates against each other in your 10 year old racism/xenophobic and romance discourse we have literally washed over and read countless times
