Hi Megan! In reply to my previous ask, 'The Edible Woman' is a feminist book by Margaret Atwood from the 1960s. I felt it was a wonderful choice to include, as the main character finds herself unable to eat since she feels the people around her are metaphorically devouring her. She feels she has no choices in life & everyone around her dictates who she should be. I feel that to some extent, this description applies to Cassie. Also, it has a wonderful line in it, though it isn't said by the main
(cont'd) character, which is "Being a person is gettig too complicated", which she actually reads out in the beginning. That, I think, is totally what Cassie felt: she didn't want to grow up & felt that life is getting too complicated. Anyway, in the end the protagonist realized that she couldn't really get herself in a better position. Yeah, basically that's it. I just felt it was an excellent choice to include. It is a great book, I recommend it! Cheers.
That is absolutely brilliant. I am gonna post this just in case more people are aware of this book without knowing the details.
