“I made a mistake.” So long ago. It was a statement that resonated with about everyone. Who didn’t have regrets in some capacity, even if it were only a fleeting thing?
He stood a solid seven foot tall, fully armored, but the voice that emerged from the depths of the suit was young. Almost too young to be able to wield such a heavy weight of armor. And the burden of knowledge that his question had stemmed from originally.
“I’m paying for it. I believe in equivalent exchange---” It was the basis of all things in that life, wasn’t it? If something is taken, something else of equal value must be given in return. If it wasn’t directly handed forward, something would emerge from the cosmos to claim what it was earned. Some people might call that karma.
“... but I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to make up the ground I lost. I’m sorry. This is not a topic for strangers only coming to meet one another.” It was hardly a topic for friends!!
