Clouded judgement or dummy in disguise.
So for my inaugural post I choose to rant instead of exchange pleasantries. I see so many dumb things on a daily basis that it truly causes me to worry about the fate of our future and our people. Therefore I chose to write about things that make no sense to the human mind. In turn I would equally welcome criticism and equal acknowledgement if I fall under my own category of stupid. So to make myself clear, I'm not attacking, I'm observing and noting what I have observed.
Facebook is the catalyst for seeing the lives of people you either see or don't see on a daily basis. The crown jewel of facebook is that over a quarter of the people in your/my friends list or newsfeed are either acquaintances or someone who thought we'd be interesting to know more about so they friended us, and there they are forever on my newsfeed. Some friends are added during past business/band dealings that have faded or disappeared over time which keeps them on the newsfeed as well.
The thing that strikes me odd is how openly everyone loves to put their business on facebook. One in particular "The Go Fund Me". 10 years ago we wouldn’t want a soul to know that we are in a financial bind. That’s personal info that you may choose to leak to certain family members and close friends only in hopes they may offer to help. Now a days if you have 600 friends on facebook, you can start a Go Fund Me and tell the world I'm broke while asking the world for help. What happened to your pride?
Some people fall on hard times, I’m not disputing that, but even cousin Eddie was hesitant to tell Clark he was broke in Christams Vacation. Would Eddie use a Go Fund Me today if it was available? I’m not so sure he would. My point is there are other ways to ask for and get help (privately). You have a better chance going that route anyways to avoid scrutiny and to give yourself a little bit more of sincerity towards the people your asking help from.
I also see other Go Fund Me’s pop up everywhere. During the holidays, funerals, house fires and so on. Lately a lot of them are faked during a crisis to play on your sympathy so you'll donate thinking you're helping a needy individual. The story reads: "I use to work with Billy Bob 10 years ago and knew his family. I started this go fund me to help his family with funeral expenses so please help". (Clouded Judgement or entrepreneur)?
Also you can't just decide you want people to randomly help you with life. a couple of cases in point. Me and my 2 friends are going to start a band, help us buy equipment so we can get gigs. Here's a link to our go fund me. That’s not how it works. Example: I want to be a computer programmer, but I'm not going to ask you to pay for my Education using a go fund me account. The other Example is when you refuse to fix your financial issues (get a job) and want to continue in a path with somewhat random opportunities for pay. A.K.A the full time musician.
I get it I had dreams once myself. I even toured and got to experience what it's like living hand to mouth on the road. Those experiences taught me that it takes a special person or group of persons to put themselves through that kind of financial instability. I'm not that person. I personally enjoy getting a paycheck on the 1st and 15th of every month, with no worry. So if you chose that lifestyle, then you own that lifestyle. To be a fulltime musician you have to Hustle.
I know some that are great at their craft and make good money. This rant is not aimed at them, because they work to make it happen. When I see you posting lazy pics at home or look what I bought or what concert I got tickets for, that tells me you're not even trying. I don't need you posting a week later that it's been a slow month, not so many gigs, my car is broke down again and my kids need diapers. It is always followed by either "I don't know what I'm going to do, or please help".
Look people I'm not heartless not even remotely close. I cry at despair easily, but if you choose not to help yourself, it's not my job to do it for you. I'm not giving you money. What I will give you is 2 things: advice, and a link to Indeed or monster to search for jobs. We can't all be rockstars but guys like me get to fake it on the weekends and I'm happy I can do that. So in closing I don't like "Go Fund Me" and I don't like freeloaders. I could go on but I figured this was enough for this first episode.
Thanks for stopping by and oh yea, I have a comments section!
Sometimes I have really good days and I can think up stuff and make you fall off whatever you're sitting on and add 10 followers that day. Other days I am like I am so lazy I don't even have to drive to pick up my computer.
lazy people are the smartest people
I have gotten incredibly lazy when I wear my hair curly for a week straight.
The times that you are too lazy to text back..... ehh
