starting out, everyone just kinda called each other by their respective titles and nicknames based off of various physical traits. eventually, however, as everyone started learning about each other, specific and ridiculous nicknames began to emerge for each of the links.
they first called the hero of legend “pinkie” due to his hair color, but once some genius came up with “plink,” the name stuck forever. they also figured out that a lot of funny words sound kind of like link, and thus was born the nicknames “wink” and “lank.” they also found out that rule’s game was released first, so they opted to call him “OG” as well.
other names like “harold” and “timmy” came from name abbreviations (hero of the wild -> harold, hero of time -> timmy) and they eventually stuck as well.
