Very curious about And So Our Life Begins: A Wish Their Hearts Made!! Would love to hear more (and maybe a snippet? 🤍)
Hello!!! This is one of my old Azris fics. I started posting it in June of 2023 and last updated in 2024 (OOPS). It's my "azris become fathers via Illyrian surrogate" fic and I'm looking forward to finishing it. Though it's been a bit on hiatus, I'm looking to see what's going to happen next chapter.
While I don't have a snippet per say (i KNOW I'M SORRY) I do know that they're going for baby #3 and SHE is going to be a spit fire.
What I'm most looking forward to, though, is the chapter after that as their twin boys grow up and want to enter the blood rite. The thought puts their dad's through the ringer and one is more supportive of their decision than the other.
50 years after their bond snapped and 5 years after they started planning, Azriel and Eris expand their family with the help of Miri.

Eris paced with anxious speed across the bedroom, vial in one hand and the other tucked primly behind his back as a defense mechanism. Sweat beaded his brow, his heart beating loudly enough to be heard throughout the forest house. His asshole of a mate stood against the wall, leaning comfortably with his arms and wings folded as he chuckled.
“You have done this so many times before, what’s your hold up?”
“My hold up,” Eris scoffed, “is that this means something this is… I mean…” He gestured with the vial in his hand, his eyes wild and nervous.
“The hold up is you, love,” Azriel said, his voice soft.
Instead of responding, Eris stared down the glass in his shaking hand, brows furrowed. Azriel’s hand closed around his, his finger tipping Eris’ chin up so their gazes mate. “What’s on your mind?”
“What if this is a bad idea?” Eris asked, his voice soft and hesitant He averted his gaze for the second question, terrified about Azriel’s answer. “What if I’m a bad father?”

Chapter 3: 45 years after their bond snapped and 35 years after the ceremony, Azriel and Eris realize something is missing. They’d briefly touched on the subject for years, but now they’re ready to discuss that next step.
I'm sorry it's taken so long to get this fic updated y'all!! I never want to work on something just to do it. You get a subpar product, and I don't enjoy writing it. Hopefully the brain worms for this piece will just keep coming now. But I promise you it is not abandoned and will get finished! I sincerely hope you enjoy the next installment.

“Something is missing and I don’t like it.” Eris said, looking away as he spoke. The words came out sure and concise, but there was a waver of emotion there that Azriel couldn't decipher. He wasn’t sure if the shame he saw in his mate’s eyes was from being the first to speak, or because of his admission.
“Missing from what?” Azriel asked with hesitant composure.
Eris stood from his chair then, walking over to the fire for solace as he wrapped his arms around himself. He stared into the flames, whose undulations had only grown increasingly agitated, trying to find comfort. With a smaller voice than Azriel was used to hearing, Eris continued. “If I say it, you have to promise not to hate me.”
Pushing off the wall, Azriel went to join Eris by the fire. “Eris, what’s going on? I could never hate you.”
A rough laugh escaped Eris’ throat, “we both know that’s not true. You’ve hated me well enough before.”
Just as he was about to reach for Eris, Azriel flinched back. His admission shocked Azriel, and he couldn’t help but cringe. “I thought we were past this.”
“I’m sure you did.” Eris’ eyes still stared coldly into the fire.
Azriel flexed his fists at his sides in an effort to control his hurt and anger. His voice was still harsher than he wanted when he spoke. “What’s that supposed to mean, Eris? What aren’t you saying?”

“Honey I’m home!” Azriel called mockingly to Eris when he strode through the double doors into their large bedroom. Instead of Eris waiting for him, Azriel found Clove. She trotted up to his side, demanding pets by pushing her snout into him until he obliged her.
“Where’s Eris, sweet girl?” Azriel asked the pup, who had come to favor Azriel much to Eris’ chagrin. After receiving what she deemed to be the appropriate amount of pets in greeting, Clove gently grabbed the sleeve of Azriel’s shirt and guided him toward Eris’s study.
“Of course the little shit is still working,” Azriel grumbled under his breath as they neared the door.
“I heard that, you ridiculous bat.” Eris said without looking up from the paper he was reading at his desk.
“You promised me that you’d stop working before I left for my flight.”
“And you promised you’d only be gone for an hour. I see we are both liars.”
“Two wrongs don’t make a right” Azriel said as he kissed the back of Eris’s neck.
“So why don’t we go make a few more wrongs…” Eris said, turning to meet Azriel’s lips with his own.
Instead of matching his mate’s intensity, Azriel pulled back.
