I became an artist because I think art has so much potential to make things better. I know that is a vague concept, but I believe it fully. Peter Sellars told my class last summer, “Art creates spaces and conversations that do not exist.” Art has the potential to produce alternatives to reality, to help people, and to “make this place a better place.”
