Just a correction that Gwen was never raped, she knowingly cheated on Peter with Norman. It was a terrible decision that was quickly retconned and forgotten.

I'm personally pretty ignorant regarding Gwen's story, and had one person mention the "rape" in the comic. I heard there was a point at which Gwen said she wanted to stop, though, and Norman didn't listen? I mean, that part's rape. 

If it was retconned and largely forgotten, then I feel especially disgusted by that fella on fb who commented, lamenting its exclusion. Gross person was gross. Blegh.

i'm learning a lot about people that i've blindly adored (like authors and poets and such) and a lot of them have done some pretty shitty things, like even beyonce has two lines suggesting domestic violence in drunk in love. i dunno i used to be so 100% about everything and everyone and now i'm beginning to look at the world more critically which i think is a good thing! being able to recognize faults and discuss why what they did is wrong. no one being hasn't fucked up and it's important that i learn not to idolize anyone to the point of being blind to their shortcomings. especially if i want to lead a progressive and intersectional life, i need to be able to be like, yeah john keats wrote some beautiful poetry but was also a flat out racist and wrote some really problematic material
