Oh my ... that sunshine was deceiving. It was very warm but that north wind made for a long slog up to Reach Street! Lots of cyclists in the bike lanes .. all distanced properly. A few adults were in need of helmets. Even more convertibles, other sports cars and hundreds of motorcycles out in the sun. Palmer Park was FULL of people .. really disappointing. Tan lines are starting ... after yesterday's long ride and today ... even with sunscreen on. Today's ride was so damn good, you get TWO posts! You'll have to check my previous post for other great images from this metric century on the lakefront. The weather service totally effed up that forecast. 17° and sunny? Where? It was 9-11°, cloudy and windy and rained near the end ffs!🥴🥴🥴🥴 First ride of the year with only one layer on ... summer clothes for a change! From Whitby pier, @russell_styles and I went west through Ajax out to Pickering. Along the way, we found all these rocks that local families have painted. We talked to one family to learn why and thanked the kids for their great artwork. So sweet! In Ajax, families did the same thing, just in a "rock concert" .. great idea! See if you can spot the swans in the mouth of Duffins Creek in Ajax. What appears to be smoke are actually swarms of midges! Millions of them! Little buggers got in my eyes and Russ' ears! A quick 40km down to the lake and back was what my legs needed after standing for 2 straight days. That wind sucked riding into it but was pretty sweet behind. Mother Nature is on crack .. or schizo. Temps started at 17°c then dropped to 9° up north before warming up to 14° at the end. And that crazy wind! A not-so-gentle WestNorthSouthEast blast with guests out of the EastSouthWestNorth lol 🌬🌬🌬🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀 Despite the crazy weather, it was a beautiful ride up to Blackstock and Port Perry. Dramatic skies and no rain, a big bull, a sore redecorated in Port for TV show or movie, warnings in Port, a nice sign in Blackstock ... overall a nice 72km tour of the countryside. Part 2 of today's socially distant social ride was a trip to the lake to show @wellnesssecretsandmore a safe route to take @ethaniscute10 down to the lake along the Oshawa Creek Trail. Swipe ➡️➡️➡️ @russell_styles and I went north for a socially distant adventure on the back roads... took some photos .. interrupted some Turkey vultures feasting on a dead coon ... saw a peacock at the Oshawa Zoo. The zoo is closed .. they had to close their parking lot even because people were packing the lot and not being physically distant. Spectacular 17°c day ... spring is here! But watch your distance ...
