Hi, hi, Eyre! Here I am, doing my request for your follower celebration. (:
😈 - Lee Bodecker + prompt 2. Maybe reader is spending way too much time with Arvin (or like anyone else) recently, depriving Lee of her full attention, according to him.
I don't know why, but it's hard for me to envision Lee feeling jealous of Arvin, so I'm gonna go with a different character...
Lee didn't pay much attention to the new arrival - not any more than he would ordinarily dedicate towards any stranger. He had made the usual arrangements, of course. Researched everything he could to find out more about the guy who moved into his town and opened up his practice on the main square, ready to represent his citizens and the ones from the nearby towns in any of the small cases they might need legal assistance.
The second he realize the man wouldn't be a threat to him and his position as the local sheriff and mayor? Lee couldn't be bothered to think about him at all.
But the town didn't seem to feel the same way as he did.
"Did you meet the new guy?" He heard his secretary chat with a friend.
"The lawyer?" The friend confirmed. "Oh, yes. Dreamy, isn't he?"
Lee had struggled to suffocate a laugh when he saw his secretary fawn herself over the conversation.
"Oh, tell me about it... And he's single! Do you think he might be looking for a wife?" He had ignored the conversation after that, not interested at all in these female matters and whatever schemes the two might come up with in the hopes of capturing the poor guy.
He still remembered when said secretary was plotting up plans to capture him, before he managed to marry the love of his life.
He didn't think about the newcomer at all until the following week, when he stopped by the diner to grab himself a cup of coffee (the one from the station was disgusting, even he had to admit it) and witnessed yet another conversation about the man.
"Oh, yes, he's perfect husband material," one of the waitresses gossiped to a customer. "Even the married ladies seem interested in him, but who could ever help it? He's handsome, a lawyer and he's so polite... Definitely, someone the men in this town could learn from."
That was added with a look in his direction, letting him know that the ladies had noticed his attention on their conversation. Lee rushed to pay for the coffee and leave the diner, although he couldn't shake the feeling of uneasiness that bubbled in his stomach at the words of the waitress...
He knew he was a brute, and he had been less than patient when it came to seducing you and getting you to marry him, but he had always assumed you liked him that way. You never complained, only shook your head and smiled softly at him whenever he behaved a little more like a caveman than usual, and it was exactly the contrast between your softness and his roughness that made him fall for you.
Could it be that you would prefer someone more... elegant and refined, like the man that had just arrived?
He tried to push those thoughts away, he really did. He didn't even know if you knew the man, or if you had only ever heard of him from your friends, who visited you while you were working your shift at the local library.
But that evening, during dinner, the questions weighed so heavily on him, they just ended up pouring out from his lips before he could stop them.
"Have you heard about the man who just moved into town?" He'd asked suddenly, startling you from your task of washing the dishes after dinner.
It took you a while to answer, your eyebrows furrowed like you were struggling to concentrate on his question now that he had interrupted whatever it was that you had been thinking about.
"Oh... You mean Andy?" Andy? Lee wondered, trying to understand where the hell this familiarity came from. “Yeah, he comes into the library almost every day.”
And at that piece of information, Lee’s world seemed to swirl around him.
“Do you... Do you like him?” He forced himself to ask, not really knowing what sort of answer he expected to hear.
“Yeah.” You shrugged, like it was no big deal. “He’s nice.”
Bitter jealousy burned on the bottom of Lee’s stomach as he gripped the counter, trying not to grind his teeth and warn you of his predicament. He didn’t want you to know just how out of control he was when it came to you.
But he also didn’t want you to see him standing there with a clenched jaw and dark eyes, an undeniable hardness on his perfectly pressed pants. No one had told him jealousy felt so much like desire, and the confusion between the two sentiments was enough to leave him even quieter than usual. If you noticed it, you didn’t say anything about it.
That night, when you fell asleep by his side, Lee couldn’t sleep. He turned to his side and watched over your dreams, making sure they were peaceful - making sure you were peaceful.
Needless to say, the next morning, Lee was a mess.
It wasn’t for the lack of sleep - although that certainly didn’t help. He just couldn’t stop thinking about you... and Andy. What time did he usually visit you? Did he stay long?
... what did you two do when you were together?
He acted before he could think, even though he knew the chances of witnessing what he feared to see were slim. When he actually came to his senses, he was parked in front of the library... and Andy’s car was not that far from his.
Rage took over him, then. Looking back on it later, he’d never understand how he immediately jumped to conclusions - this conclusion, much less. All he knew is that in a second, he was making his way inside the library, going straight to where your counter was located and that’s where he caught you...
Why were you just talking? And why was he disappointed about it?
Lee took advantage of the shadow the bookshelves were casting over him, and he just stayed there, staring. You looked so pretty in that pink skirt - he’d been the one to give it to you.
And Andy was standing right there, on the other side of the counter, so far away from you.
How come he didn’t just... lean down and kiss you?
Shaking himself off of those weird thoughts, Lee decided to leave before he did something stupid. But on his way back to his office, he couldn’t help but notice... it was weirdly hot for that time of the year... and his pants felt tighter than they usually did, constraining his dick.
