Weekly reflection - the final one

People are focusing on finals. This period of time I seem to stop thinking creatively. Or maybe it's the best time to be? Looking back over the course, I really think that this is my most favourite class so far. It is the effect of every elements of the class: diversity, creativity, freedom and rules. I learned a lot from this class. Last week, hearing the ofher groups presenting their ideas, I suddenly think back at the first project. It seems connected. I was in progress. I develop. And I see the same in others. I learned a lot from the professors. They bring their passion and knowledge, even only in 45 minutes of the class, to us, who still at that time exploring the whole angles of design. I will miss this class alot, and my teammates. Each of them are so awesome in their own way. And lastly, thank you Emily for introducing, encouraging us and pushing us out there to the fields we have never experienced before. I find the connection, behind these seemingly new ideas. I'm learning to be a real designer. And I am proud to be one.

Project 3 process ##

I guess this is it!*sigh On Wednesday, we had our project presented. Although something came up with Frankie, but the presentation went well. I wish Frankie was there. She invested a lot of time and efforted for our project. Da best! Even though project 3 closes, I still think a lot of about ECOPOLE, especially everytime I walk pass my fridge. Considering all the "Moving Forward" goals, sometimes I let my mind wander and think one day ECOPOLE will exist. Thank you our team, thank you Emily for pushing us working toward this such assignment. We put a lot of effort in it and we receive even greater rewards, in memories, experience. XOXO

Project 3 process #8

I'm here sitting in our class listening to other groups' projects. All the ideas are really awesome: the crime app,the self-driven cars, the wireless charger. They presented well as well. I also notice that Time for presentation is a big concern. Our group has already practiced for our presentation and we run a bit longer. Therefore we need to adjust this. Apart from that, our powerpoint file works well and we cover all the angels of the fridge. It's great so far.

Weekly reflection

This week - it's-almost-over. I don't know how you guys are like but verytime I hear the word "Over", "Done", "Last" or think of it, I start to become a bit nolstagic. So today I'm just going to pour things out of my head. Remember the first time when I entered the class. The moment when design to me was still blurry. Emily struck me with her sense of fashion. I love the way she arranges the colour of her outfit, until today. (there was a time that Emily looked exactly like a flight attendant with her elegant outfit - I should have taken a picture of that). That's the day we DEFINE design. (Which I say "Create" and Emily said "Creation". Nice.) And today, it"s been a long way. I have learned a lot. I have been inspired a lot. And have met really awesome people. The course gave me access to multiple fields of design, especially hearing talks from the professors of that field is really helpful because I can easily picture what is working in that field is like. Even the vibe, the way of talking, looking at things of each professor tells me about their work. All the projects worth their while I guess. I get the hands on experience of how to Design stuffs, how hard the work is. Another thing is the time observing to our classmates' projects 1 and 2. There are so many amazing ideas. And I love it. Things are ending now with D@MN -DAMN class. (Damn awesome class). But I hope I can carry on with the knowledge and experience today and develop it in the future. Cheers!

Adora and me

[Tribute] I realised that tumbler page of our class has a lot of posts about ideas, things but not people behind that. So, Adora, our team's communications person. Remember the presentation about the smart bag that wowed you by the Design of presentation page. That's our gurl. But not only that part, she is really good when it comes to presenting ideas out there, both verbally and visually. She communicates well and connects our members together which could be seen in the previous project when there were a lot of us. Adora has a really good sense of the display of information, the using of color, the settings and all that. She is a true fan of Papers and that's where all the slides that look special in their own ways. Her minor is in Design. I bet she would rock it if she planned out a magazine or some banners or advertising campaign in the future. She keeps track of everything well through her planner. And as a nutrition major, I understand it right away when she mentions that she will have meals at the right time of the day even if she has class or even on train". As a nutrition major myself, I know it's not only the sign of healthy lifestyle person but also a time-management and self-discipline.

Project 3 process#3

Toáy we continue with the fridge. 1. Name: yes!! The name is official: ECO-POLE. Because the core of the fridge is a cylindrical pole and the fridge is also a cylinder. Also, it has the meaning of the Northpole, which is also the right direction for lost boats and ships. We hope this product will be a wise solution and friend for people. 2. Size: the fridge is going to be 6 ft tigh and 2 feet diameter. Because people will have control over their fridge, there will be no more scene of leaving all your rusty food at the back. Therefore, the smaller the better. We want to minimize the resource and waste. 3. The app: Frankie and I have sketched the basic interface of the app and all the sub-categories. It's going to a useful one with full access to the fridge. What we have left is the smart door material, the light to signal food condition. Things are going pretty well.

Project 3 process #2

Update on group's work process Before Wednesday last week, we were torn apart because three ideas that we have were all nice and creative but found out rhat they already exist on the market. But on Wednesday, with the power of group work, we finally decided on the final product: THE O-FRIDGE, popsicle, the north fridge, ... as we still figure out ways to do it. The fridge will be a cylindrical one and a glass door that can be transparent or untransparent depending on the user's preferences. Also, there will an app linked to the fridge so that it will come in handy for the users. It tells which food will go bad soon, the recipe and #behealthy guide. My job is to write the content of the app, mostly about the nutritional value and food usage, how it relates perfectly with the fridge. Our group is all communicating well and on the way of perfecting the fridge. Hope things will go well. *fingerscrossed

Weekly reflection

This week we had a talk with professor Abi and explored the diversity in design profession. Abi information somewhat overlapped with those provided by our guest speaker earlier, of how countries, religions, governments are tightly linked and affects greatly on each other. But, another idea sparks on that I realised. It's the art of the minorities in today's world. Because I researched and lookied into fashion and beauty a lot, I know the fact that art, specifically fashion nowadays is paying much attention to minorties, such as asian beauty, bloggers, indian hijab, harajuku in Japan,... I think the reason behind it is that, it is the speciality, standing-out, uniqueness of art from minorities that set them away from the common ones. This idea is true for design, architecture too. Creativity is a way for people to break through of their own people, nation and strive for things beyond that.
