Nah, this one isn't as feel-inducing because it hasn't been /all/ that plotted out, but this is my... headcanon I guess? Nope, I actually had a dream kind of like this so I'm just telling you what it was.

....under the cut OOPS

Leifur, a huge (at least 7' tall, and very thick as well), quiet guy (some probably think he's mute), is hired. He's definitely the type who gets overlooked, not because of a plain appearance, but because he's only noticed if someone's looking around to see if they can get away with something (like stealing or getting in without paying). To those people, he probably seems unapproachable and dominant. He, however, just wants someone to keep him company. If anyone has a monotonous job, it's actually him. No one else in the caravan really understands what monotony is. He gets through it by entertaining himself (counting the number of hats, helping little kids reach the bear they won, sometimes spending time near the animals) because as long as he's around, troublemakers will hold their ground.

One day, for no particular reason other than being in need of a good wander around the caravan, he strolls near the fortune-telling tent, and sees two people leave, one looking sympathetic, and the other looking terrified. He hears a woman cackling inside, and can't tell if she's laughing out of actual joy or at their expense. Out of curiosity, he debates going inside, but before he can, he realizes she's right next to him and he jumps. She's eager to greet him, which is strange, to him, since not many tend to even see him, let alone greet him. She's odd, but he's not the kind to care, so he nods and smiles lightly at her. You probably couldn't tell he was smiling unless you knew him well, as his facial expression barely changes, but she, somehow, can.

He finds himself wandering back to the tent more and more often, and she begins to expect him. They start exploring the caravan together sometimes and Lumi talks about what's been happening or ideas she's had or maybe even new people she's seen around, and he doesn't mind listening, in fact, Lumi's not sure if she's ever even heard his voice. She asks him about this, and he just looks at her, not offering a reply until she asks if he's mute.

"Are you... ya know.... can you talk?"

As if he's used to being asked this, he shrugs, and doesn't say anything for a bit. She's about to open her mouth again, when he says, "No reason to."

For some reason, these three words glued her to his side.

They become inseparable (she often rides on his shoulder, since she prefers not to wear shoes and he's a foot taller than even the tallest of the workers in the caravan), and nowadays, even the oldest of the caravan are unsure that there was ever a time they saw either of them without the other, and Leifur and Lumi don't mind.
