Birds chirp to the autumn air, and sunlight against her cheek force her bleary eyes to open. From here, Azukni can see their two kids playing and screaming on the jungle gym, along with a bunch of other kids of varying ages (and even more varied species) playing together.

It makes her wonder why the grown-ups in the world couldn't get along like kids did.

Next to her, Leika'le stirs too, and Azukni is forced to lift her head off her wife's shoulder so she can stretch. "Did we fall asleep?" Leika'le yawns.

"I think we did." Azukni reclaims her wife's shoulder-pillow, and wraps an arm around her. Leika'le yawns again, and her arm falls over Azukni's shoulder.

"So much for watching the kids, huh Birdie?"

"There's so many other parents watching. I doubt any one of them would let something bad happen to their kid's new friend. I'm going back to sleep."

"Even with the lovely Sith dads over there?" Leika'le nods in their general direction.

Azukni scrunches her nose and shakes her head. "I can't imagine any parents would murder their kid's new friend's parents in front of them. Sith or not." She closes her eyes again, snuggling into her wife's arms. "We can nap for a big longer, Lei-lei."

"Okay, Birdie."

"Well, the kids are finally asleep," Leika'le exhaled as she fell into the couch. "Same with the birds and just about everyone but us, at this point."

Azukni smiled softly, pulling Leika'le's head into her lap. "Thank you, my love," she said quietly, kissing her on the forehead. The kiffar offered a lazy grin before turning her attention to whatever Azukni was watching. Some wedding dress show that used to be extremely popular a few years back and became Azukni's special interest and comfort show. Azukni wasn't the most fashionable person, and stuck primarily to pale jedi robes she could easily bleach (in case of kid stains and tears), but she still loved the show -- despite the predictable formatting.

Leika'le looked up at Azukni, the lights from the holo playing with her smile, the frazzled but still mostly kept hair, the little golden bands on her horns...

"Azukni, would you ever want to get married?"

Azukni turned to her, confused. "Aren't we?"

"No, I don't think we are. Not officially, at any rate."

"I-- Are you sure? Wasn't there that one date at the waterfall--"

"Where we got interrupted by your old master and we cut the date short? It definitely wasn't a wedding, at any rate. Wait, did you think we were actually legally and lawfully married?" Leika'le chuckled, sitting up to face her.

Azukni's face scrunched up when she thought, and it appeared that she was thinking extra hard now. "But... we've been calling each other 'wife' for years, haven't we?"

"Azu, we never had a ceremony for it."

Azukni looked down into her lap, back up at her wife-not-wife, back into her lap, and back up at her not-wife again. "But we have kids, and then there were all the times we were invited to things and we were each other's plus-ones, and--" Azukni began rambling, hands waving in the air as she pulled out memories to place them in front of her, and at one point, she froze. "... Lei-lei? Are you sure we're not legally married?"

"Yes, I'm sure. Why?"

Azukni slowly turned to Leika'le, horror in her face. "... Lei-lei, I've been reporting us as married on our taxes since before we had the kids... I-- Have I been committing tax fraud?"

so this is gonna be for uhhh Azukni and Leika'le bc as much as Xyraan's been consuming my mind, this selection of the questions feels more more like Azu and Leilei! And thanks for sending questions in! :D

1. Who would end a heated argument by defending their actions with ‘because I love you!’?

Gonna be honest I can imagine them both doing it, but Azukni much more. I've said before that Azukni's very free and open with her emotions, and it also applies here!

8. What happens if one of them gets sick?

Mmm probably panicking and/or mentally going into Emergency Mode. Two young kids and a sick wife would do that. Who's going to take care of the kids? The wife? Do we try to get a babysitter? Azukni's brother, as much as he may love kids, hates being around people and the girls will wear him out. Uncle Rakeshi loves taking care of the girls so that's probably a good option but is he even around? Crap, what is the wife sick with, do we have adult version of the medicine she needs? All we have is Kids Space Robitussin!!!! Where's the Grown Up medicine???? And we gotta think about food too. What if she gets me sick too oh shit--

... and then it kinda goes in circles while tasks etc are being carried out lol

9. What are their thoughts on having children?

Well as for Azukni, while she doesn't regret it, they definitely get on her nerves. They're both about the same age so they just bounce off each other constantly and especially when one of them constantly causes mischief and the other is an enabler, Azukni's pretty sure her hair is going to go white sooner than it should.

22. What reminds each of their partner?

Azukni sees droids and will think about Leilei. The apartment is full of them, lil mini droids running around beeping at everything and everyone. And I'd imagine that any giant animals that Leika'le sees might remind her of her wife, cuz Azukni may as well be an actual disney princess and WILL try to befriend literally every animal there is goddammit.

and then technically neither of them would be padawans at this point but. lesbean padawans sounds cuter than lesbean jedi somehow. :’T it’s the childhood sweetheart trope i’m tellin’ ya. childhood sweethearts who adopt two kids and probably at least three different adults (adultier-adults at least) as father/parental/uncle figures?????

cuz a family can definitely be made up of one loud dad, one soft dad, one drunk dad, one butch lesbian and one femme lesbian, and their two daughters where the sith pureblood kid is the force-deaf one and the togruta isn’t.

7. most likely to be two hours late to their own eventI feel like, when Azukni and Leika’le first adopted her kids, she and her family would have definitely been late to a lot of things until either/both moms got the hang of it. But Athenyia, who’s much more likely to skip out on an event entirely, would have to be dragged kicking and screaming to her own birthday party or something. She just hates formal events and the like, or even informal events. If she has to put it on a calendar, she’d rather not do it. Just leave her alone in her obscure little hut like home and let her go take down rancors on her own or something.

13. most likely to ruin everythingXyrus, now dead, has definitely ruined everything before out of sheer spite, or at least everything for one person. Beside him, maybe Nalakii, though she’d ruin everything out of sheer spite for as many people as she can.

19. most likely to binge-watch Netflix for absurd lengths of timeI feel like Arif would out of like, depression binge watching. Rakheshi would for funsies. (I can imagine Wanwo and Vette binge watching together, but Wanwo gets antsy if he can’t get out of the house/ship often enough.)

“Lei?”

The Kiffar turned around to face the smaller girl. Her shoulders were stiff, eyes wide, her hands were clasped tight and she was very nearly shaking. “Azu? What’s wrong?”

“Nothing! I just.” The tiny zabrak stopped abruptly and shoved her hands forward, offering Leika’le whatever she was holding in her hands. “Your birthday present. Sorry it took a week to make. And sorry it doesn’t look nice.”

Between her fingertips was a pink bracelet, woven together from embroidery threads. “I was, I wanted to make you something, but I didn’t know what to make, so I, well I saw some of the other padawans making these and I figured it’d be nice, but I’ve never made one before, and--” Azukni was babbling now, something she always did when she was nervous. “--and it kinda looks terrible, but I. I just--”

Leika’le stopped her then, holding the other’s hands in her own, ducking her head down to look Azukni in the eyes. “Hey. It’s fine, okay?” she grinned wide, stepping closer. Azukni did her best to nod.

“I just. I just wanted the first one I made to be for you. You’ve just been super nice to me, and I’m super happy all the time now ‘cuz of you, and I, I wanted to say thanks somehow.”

“Azukni. I love it, okay? Thank you. Seriously.” She grinned wide again and Azukni nearly felt her hearts explode with sheer joy. 

“Happy super belated birthday, Lei-lei.”

y’know i AM still trying to work out how azukni and leika’le come across elanii tho. for the longest time one of them maybe just stumbled across that tiny sith pureblood child somewhere, but i’m thinking...

it’d make more sense imo if coshbyss somehow got elanii to azukni after he found her. he knows very well that, as a force-deaf sith pureblood, the baby was very likely abandoned by her parents. very reminiscent of how there are so many stories of chinese baby girls left on the side of the road, because of the one child policy. 

her biological parents would’ve wanted a force-sensitive child to carry on their legacy or whatever, not a force-deaf one. so maybe coshbyss found her somewhere, and got her to azukni.

it’d be hard on his sister, cuz where in the Republic are you gonna find books on how to raise a Sith Pureblood baby? And a force-deaf one at that? Sure, her strange Iridonian zabrak uncle (uncle kheshi, she called him?) may be helpful she hopes. he’s a father as well, one who adopted kids who weren’t the same species he was. 

But hopefully between Azukni, her wife, Uncle Kheshi, and books he is able to find in the Empire, they can all help raise little Elanii together.

At the very least, this way, he can be the family he so desperately wanted to be, before the Empire took him away from home.
