it was the early morning and light just began to sleep through their thick bedroom curtains. the house was silent, the outside was silent — to leiknir, it seemed as if the whole world was silent. leiknir wasn’t sure why he kept waking up early every day for the past week; he thought it must’ve been the move and the unfamiliarity in it. though... it wasn’t completely unfamiliar, he had slept there before. was it the uneasiness and worry that came along with every big step in a relationship? no, he was sure they made the right decision. he loved tony, so what was there for him to feel uneasy about? but in those early morning hours, leiknir couldn’t help but become trapped in his own mind. doubt slowly crept up on him each morning as he lie there awake. and that doubt vanished each time tony awoke.
he rolled over onto his side, wrapped an arm around his love, and buried his face in between tony’s shoulder blades. it was a comfortable position; he felt warm and safe, secure. leiknir could very faintly feel tony’s relaxed breathing, it brought a slight smile to his face. he decided to stay in that position for a few minutes before slowly sitting up, careful not to wake him. a kiss was planted on tony’s cheek with the softest “i love you”. leiknir lingered for a few seconds, legs tangled in the sheets, just admiring his boyfriend’s beauty.
in the following hour that he was awake he managed to shower, tidy up, do some work, and read two chapters of a book he recently started. by the time leiknir heard his love trudge through the hall, the sun was high up and the birds could be heard through the windows. the world was no longer silent. lifting his head and closing his book, his gaze fell on the sleep-ridden face of his boyfriend. “good morning, love,” a smile on his face, “still sleepy?”
