OCeptember Day 8 - Formal clothes/uniform: Leiurus Omdur

Leiurus normally wears a different (simpler) version of the default Geneticist uniform, but when going to more formal events with her SO, she switches to the alt Geneticist outfit instead of a ball gown. Given their dedication to research, both she and Leigh probably find it more attractive than ball gowns anyway lol

I will warn you though that Leiurus can be erratic when she's high. Sometimes she'll just lay back and enjoy the sensations around her while other times she can become restless and just keep talking nonstop + try to write poetry in her "enhanced" state or something lol

Definitely Monster Energy. Lei is simply too predictable to not wanna try the one that’s logo is a creature’s claw marks. I bet she’d hope that drinking it would help her turn into a dragon lol 🐲

To The Accursed: Leiurus the Scorpion

Leiurus the Scorpion is a former thief who hails from nowhere and has since taken up the hallowed title of the Chosen Undead.

A husky woman who stands a good 6 ft (182 cm) tall, Lei is determined above all else to prove that she can fulfill the prophecy and gain all the power and legacy that such a hero deserves. She relies primarily on both her dexterity and ever-growing skills in sorceries and pyromancies to get her out of trouble, but is certainly able to come up with other cunning means of ensuring her survival against the many hostilities of Lordran.

Those who have come across Leiurus will often describe her as an unnerving, dangerous sort of person. Some of these rude claims come from a variety of factors: the Carimian features she inherited from her mother, her clumsy social skills and strange behaviors, or the fact that she can never look anyone in the eye when speaking face-to-face with them. Yet above all of that, her most vexing feature lies in her purple hair. In reality it is nothing more than a very rare genetic mutation linking back to primeval ancient history, but to those in a world lacking such scientific knowledge it is proof that she is a poisonous, cursed being.

Lei has lived a hard life. Depression often haunts her, as does her unending sense of guilt for all the sins she’s committed, but even despite her distrust towards strangers she still tries her hardest to find the good in others who show her a mere ounce of respect. Though still, it is clear that her goals are inherently selfish in nature. What Leiurus seeks is a power and sense of self-actualization she had been denied her entire life; a goal which may lie not in the hands of the Gods, but instead the claws of their most ancient enemies.

Thoughts on Leiurus:

Solaire of Astora: “When I first met Leiurus I was worried that she wished to avoid me, what with how nervous she kept acting within my presence. Though despite her reserved behavior, she did indeed reach out to me for some jolly cooperation! Perhaps she is simply afraid I don’t trust her because of her past role as a thief? Yet still, she does seem fond of chatting with me, and truthfully I feel a similar fondness toward her. I even find myself feeling quite warm when she’s near, as if I am a freshly kindled bonfire in her presence…

“Oh dear me! Perhaps I should not have said that out loud! M-My lips just can't keep themselves shut, aha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

"Whatever these inclinations mean, I do hope I can ease her shyness should she ever need my assistance again, or if I ever need hers. Beneath all the churning darkness, I can see the glimmers of a brilliant, shining light within their soul. I can only hope she succeeds in her quest. This world would be a worse place without her.”

Trusty Patches: “Leiurus the Scorpion? Yeah, one could say I know her, heh heh. So, you want my opinion of the self-proclaimed ‘Chosen Undead,’ eh? Of course I can give ya that!

“Lee’s is a pretty skilled survivor, I’d say, and thankfully doesn’t seem at all keen on working too closely with clerics. But by the Gods is that lass absolutely terrible at reading people, and far too paranoid about the mere idea of sinning! One can only hope she doesn’t rely too much on her oddly good resilience to hollowing. All this demon and legend killing may seem incredible in the moment, but as soon as her greed reaches its peak it’s gonna crush her soul ‘til she’s all but a snarling lunatic, believe me on that one! I couldn't care less about whatever her goal is in all of this, but I do have at least a speck of hope that my common sense will rub off on her soon enough.

"Well, if she needs me, I’ll be right here. I promise.”

Oswald of Carim: “Ahhh, Leiurus the Scorpion. If there was ever another Chosen Undead so feverishly devoted to clearing their name, I hath yet to meet them! I will admit, mine own faith in Leiurus the Scorpion’s abilities was tenuous upon our first meeting, but Velka herself hath shown to me that this one is indeed worthy of making the journey to Anor Londo and changing the world for the better. Hmm? How, thy saith? Why, that is none of thy concern. Ehehehehehehehehe!”

Anastacia of Astora: “............. ………………… ……..” (This one is different from the others. She brings me the souls of fellow firekeepers sometimes, yet more often she will come to my cell and tell me tales of her questing even though she knows I will never respond to her. What is her reason for doing this? Even if I had my tongue there is nothing of worth that I could say to her. It would do us both a favor if she only came to me to strengthen her flasks and nothing more. Despite the futility of her actions, I cannot deny that I allow myself a faint sense of ease in this lady thief’s company. I can only hope she does not betray us all.)

okay the ask of all time: how do you think various dark souls characters stim? could be relevant to your fic or not, up to you! [if you want to introduce modern stimming to them (like how daniil dankovsky now has ye olde snake tangle) that's also groovy]

I've got a good amount of stim headcanons for certain characters! Some of them may end up getting highlighted in To The Accursed, but this answer won't spoil anything for the fic per say so don't worry.

(I should also specify that this will only focus on DS1 characters since I'm not finished with 2 and haven't played 3 yet)

Well to get the obvious out of the way I know Siegmeyer is a major vocal stimmer. All those “Mmmmmmm, hmmmmm’s” he does whenever he’s deep in thought comes across like he’s trying to keep himself calm so he doesn’t get frustrated in each of his predicaments. I can’t blame him, and I’ve even found myself parroting his hums after first hearing his dialogue since it helps me out too!

Though we sadly don’t see much of Sieglinde, I imagine she too has a similar vocal stim as her father. We just don’t get to hear it because we never run into her experiencing the same bouts of indecision as he does.

Big Hat Logan I imagine is very tactile. He’ll rub the ends of his sleeves or his robe’s collar when he’s feeling anxious, and would especially love the textures of a book’s spine and pages (only the GOOD books though, he refuses to read any in bad condition unless they’re the only source of the knowledge he’s seeking). Logan’s also invented his own stim sorceries: complex but intentionally weak little glowing patterns with satisfying sounds he casts simply because the act of casting them feels so good!

We already know the Undead Merchant Woman hyperfixates on moss, so it wouldn't be a surprise if her major stim come from peeling the plants and kneading her fingers deep into each of the clumps. I can even see her talking to herself while she does it too. Her voice does kinda work for an ASMR lol.

Solaire... I'm actually not entirely dead set on his stims at the moment. If the npc models weren't so stiff I could definitely see him flapping his hands a lot, especially when he's allowed to infodump. Hell, his Praise the Sun gesture could be a stim for all we know!

Patches I can totally see as a nail-biter. He also used to pick at his hair often back when he still had any, and even after shaving it all off the muscle memory occasionally causes him to reach up and scratch his head. Though of course we mustn't forget his absolute favorite form of stimming: kicking people off of cliffs >:-)

And a bonus! My oc, Leiurus, often self-soothes by rocking back and forth while sitting down. She also particularly likes grabbing things, whether it be her own clothing or any nice looking trinkets she finds, most especially ones that have a good texture like fine robes or scales.
