If you’re interested in that sort of lovecraft-subversion, I’d also recommend The Ballad of Black Tom (”The Horror at Red Hook” from the perspective of a cultist, in a word), which is probably my favorite of the genre (but then, I’m a thoroughly miserable person with an addiction to tragedy) and Lovecraft Country (more a collection of short stories with the same cast and setting than a real novel, truly. Fittingly getting adapted into a tv series), which is more weird fiction than horror (Well, in terms of eldritch gribblies. the central thesis is basically that being black in the 1920s was plenty horrifying on its own). 

I’m certain there’s others of the type, but I haven’t run across them yet.

But they won't because he whips them to applaud everything he says in the legislature. In our system, the powers and rights individual MPPs have are denied them through psychological pressure tactics. The Party is all, the Party is Doug. Same at the Federal level. Comply or get kicked out of tge party. Our politicians are almost entirely chickenshit

On the bright side if Doug Ford kicks out a bunch of his MPP’s for disobeying him, that would also serve to make it easier for him to lose a confidence vote.
