So, in The Phantom Family, Lemnoc's duplicates are referred to as mechanical counterparts/facsimiles, which implies they're machines.

Yet they eat and sleep and are said to have the appearance of a human, with components that are "humanoid".

So, does that mean cyborgs? LiS knows the word cyborg and uses it several times in other episodes... so maybe it's more of a terminator situation where it's a machine with organic material overlayed.

But then why do they "return to the cosmic dust from whence they came" when confronted by their original?

There must be a magical element to it and I think I know what it is...

Formed by Marc Bolan, inflated by Roxy Music. Its power is vast, intangible, and confusing, but Lemnoc totally has it at the beginning of the episode.

So that's my theory.
