I love how beautiful Solange Knowles looks on that stage. Her big movements, choreo, sprinkle of twerking. Solange really just be out here doing her with every inch of that enormous stage. It’s hard as a southern Black woman to just fucking be. A lot of people who have never been/lived/driven through/been within 100 miles of the deep South have their minds made up about the Deep South™ and then will impose that upon inhabitants of the very vibrant and in so many ways very radical Black Deep South in disrespectfully uninformed ways. To see Solange, a Houstonian, just be flamboyantly experimental af and take up space and joining that with Beyonce’s exectance speech at the ‘16 VMA’s for Lemonade and the celebration and examination of Black Southern womanhood in the project itself makes me feel full and feel seen.
