401 West Chicago Boulevard is a stately Greek Revival home built in 1832 by architect and builder Elijah Anderson. Elijah, along with twin brother Elisha, were responsible for several homes in Tecumseh, including the I. S. Hamilton House (1840) right across the street. The home even features a cupola, usually found in Italian villa/Italianate designs, in addition to doric columns that are hallmarks of Greek Revival. After WW2, the home was purchased by James Beardsley, who was the city attorney for many years. He and wife Marjorie raised 6 children.
