Earlier today one of my associates texted me this poem about a mother and child. Unknowingly, these words meant a lot to me today. This poem is befitting especially, with the loss of my cousin this past weekend. I stayed home from working to reflect and honor my mother birth date as well as her final day living on Earth. I want to thank everyone who commented on the various posts made by my brother, mother siblings and her grand children. For me, it never get easier but your sincere sentiments really made a world of difference. My inner thoughts and spirit was truly uplifted. #ripmommy #manylovedyou #pisces #love #vickieleejacksonswayzer #carllamarjackson #leroyjabarrswayzer and #leroywilliams #familyislove #familyforever #eternalrest #thankful to all and my associate #byroncaalmenendez for sending this #poem to me! The Pace Report: "The Last Train to Monk" The Dr. Barry Harris Interview Here's a very special edition of The Pace Report reporting from this year's 2014 Detroit Jazz Festival featuring Detroit's own, Dr. Barry Harris. This NEA Jazz Master/Educator/Pianist was on the frontlines of the jazz scene and continues to be one of the most revered and respected musicians in the world. Dr. Harris and I sat down to talk about his deep Detroit roots, the rich musical legacy of pianists Art Tatum and Bud Powell, as well as reflect on his dear friend, the legendary Thelonious Monk. Enjoy this candid interview with Dr. Harris.
