“Doctor Harley? We are at the hospital, yes. Okay, I’ll be here with Y/n, we will wait for you,” your mother said into the phone and then she hung up.
You swallowed hardly and closed your eyes shut.
“So- they’re- they’re going to give me something what will help me with shapeshifting?” You asked carefully and your mother shook her head.
“No, doctor Harley has an office here as well. We are going to talk to her about your shapeshifting abilities,” your mother said and you sighed quietly, gulping as soon as a nurse entered the room.
“I need to give you an infusion,” she said simply and your eyes grew wide. You looked at your mother who took your hand with a little smile and with her thumb she started brushing the back of your hand.
“Okay-“ you said with your eyes closed and waited for the pain to arrive. When it did, you clenched your teeth and squeezed your mother’s hand.
“And we are done. I’ll give you your medication.”
“Can I stay with her?” Your mother asked and the nurse just smiled, nodding her head. Then she pulled out something and put it into the sack from which was the infusion coming to your arm.
When she was leaving, you finally let the tears fall from your eyes. You felt uncomfortable with the needle in your arm and your mother knew that as well. You just sobbed quietly and your mother shushed you.
“Darling it’s okay. Don’t focus on it.”
“How do I do that when it’s up my arm?” You asked and your mother breathed out. In that moment another woman entered the room after she knocked and your mother called her in.
“Y/n, Mrs Weems,” the woman nodded her head and you gulped.
“What did you tell the nurses why are we here?” You turned to see your mother and she smiled.
“Only that you fainted love.”
“Hello Y/n, I am doctor Harley,” the woman introduced. “Your mum told me that you have been having some problems lately,” she said and she sat next to your bed from the other side as your mother was sitting.
“Darling should I stay?” Your mother asked you and you swallowed, nodding your head. She was the closest person to you and you knew that she deserved to know how you were feeling.
“Uhm… you know that we are shapeshifters, right?” You asked from the woman who just nodded her head and smiled at you, waiting for you to tell her more. “I got it from mum. And I realized it just not so long ago,” you told her the truth and the doctor leant closer.
“How did you realize that you are a shapeshifter?”
“I- well, I remember touching something and then I shapeshifted into one of my classmates,” you told her honestly and the doctor nodded, writing something down.
“Mrs. Weems, she will have to be put on the list of shapeshifters. At least until she can’t control it,” doctor Harley said kindly and your mother nodded her head. She knew what she had to do and she was ready to do anything to help you and protect you.
“But that means my mum has to be put in there too and then she can’t be the principal of the Nevermore academy,” you thought out loud and your mother smiled.
“I will talk to the major honey,” she told you but you were so scared of that your mother will have to leave from the school and then there will be no one to protect you. You were thinking about this while the doctor was talking to your mother and you didn’t get to any conclusion which would solve this problem or help you with it.
“So you won’t leave from the school?”
“No, I won’t Y/n,” your mother promised you and that made you a lot calmer. When you realized a pair of eyes on you, you looked over at the doctor.
“You have a special bound, don’t you?”
“We have. Her father left before she was born and I am the only one who stayed with her,” your mother explained and you were glad in that moment for that you didn’t know your father in person. “Y/n doesn’t know him, she hasn’t met him.”
“May I ask if he had any shapeshifting abilities or?” The doctor asked and when you looked at your mother, you saw how pale she got in her face. This made you think that she was hiding something from you, but you weren’t mad at her. You were the one who didn’t want to meet or contact him, so she had every right to not talk about him in front of you.
“He is a werewolf,” the high blonde said really quietly. You looked at her in shock and you weren’t able to ask or add anything because you were shocked. You couldn’t process this new information and you weren’t sure if you could process it really soon. When your mother looked at you and saw you laying on the hospital bed with an infusion coming from your arm, she stroked the back of your hand. “I am sorry honey,” your mother apologized and in that moment there was another knock on the doors.
You immediately looked there, knowing that it couldn’t be a nurse. All of the nurses knew that you were talking to a psychologist at that moment, so why would they bother? You had your medication and you were feeling okay.
“I will go and get it,” your mother said and you nodded your head, appearing in an awkward silence. You swallowed and you didn’t know why the doctor wasn’t asking you anything. When your mother entered the room again, and you saw a blonde enter the room you were in, the first thing you realized was that she was crying. When the doctor saw her, she made some notes and then she stood up, knowing that you didn’t have much time to talk to her at the moment, since what happened happened and your friends were coming to visit you.
“Y/N! Oh my god!” Enid whined loudly and she rushed to your bed.
“Miss Sinclair, carefully,” your mother warned her and she slowed down a little, sitting onto the seat the psychologist took earlier, since she was talking to your mother at the moment.
“Okay,” Enid said a little shyly and when she looked at you, her eyes filled with tears. “You’re such a dumbass! I told you not to go there! I told you!”
“Enid shut up-“ you said through your clenched teeth but it was too late. Your mother was already looking at you with her eyes narrowed and you knew that she would get out of Enid what she wanted to get. You reached out your hand for the bag your mother brought you when she arrived to the hospital and you searched for the little bottle which was hidden in the bottom of the bag. You pulled out a purple nail polish and you handed it over to Enid. “Here you go.”
“Oh my- thank you Y/n!” Enid jumped a little and you handed her the nail polish. The first thing she did was opening it and checking the color of it. As you saw the sparks in her eyes, something made you smile and you were happy she was happy.
“Now Y/n, what was that Enid warned you in front of?”
“Mom,” you whined out and you didn’t want to tell her what happened. Enid seemed to be sharing your idea because she really liked that nail polish and you were also sure in that your mother wouldn’t stop with these questions until you didn’t answer her. “Do we-“
“Yes darling we do,” your mother cut you off and you let out a loud sigh. Then you looked away from her and you decided it would be better if your mother knew it from you than from someone else. For example Morticia.
“Uhm…. Wednesday wanted to investigate. And me and Enid didn’t want her to go alone so we joined her.”
“Where were you?” Your mother asked and at that moment you knew that you had to tell her the truth or she will get into your mind. And you didn’t want that at the condition you were in at that moment.
“We went to the Gates mansion,” you told her honestly and you were so glad you had Enid next to you.
“But me and Wednesday made sure she had her medication and we were watching over her.” She said and with that your mother’s eyes grew.
“Miss Sinclair, where did you get the medication?”
“Mom I- I took them from your office,” you said even if it wasn’t true. You didn’t even realize that you were lying to save Wednesday’s ass until Enid didn’t give you a surprised look.
“What happened at the Gates mansion?” Your mother asked and you were really surprised she was interested in what happened. But then it clicked. She wanted to know what happened there because she had to know that there was something she wanted to know for so long.
“We were there. And we checked all of the rooms. I entered one which seemed like it was in use and then I found this little box,” you said quietly and your mother nodded her head, telling you to continue. “And I wanted to look at it, so I took it in my hands. Later when I realized what happened Enid or I don’t know which one of them told me that I shapeshifted into Miss Thornhill,” you said and your mother was the one who seemed to be in a pure shock here.
“You want to tell me that-“
“Marilyn Thornhill is Laurel Gates,” you breathed out and you realized how the color from your mother’s face disappeared. She surely knew something about the Gates you didn’t know about them and you weren’t sure if it was safe to ask or not.
You and Enid went both quiet. You let your mother think about what you just told her and when she stood up and walked to the windows, you knew that she was deep in her thoughts. You looked at Enid, who reached out for your hand and brushed her fingers over your knuckles. You just smiled at her and looked her into her eyes.
“Thanks.”
“You are very welcome,” Enid whispered back to you and when your mother turned around to face you both, her eyes fell onto your hands. You softly pulled your hand away to not hurt Enid but she seemed like she understood.
“Y/n I am very disappointed in that you let Wednesday manipulate you. And Miss Sinclair you too. You can’t listen to everything she says or do what she does. Her thinking will get her expelled one day.”
“So we should let her go alone, you are saying this?” You asked from her and your mother exhaled.
“I want you to be more careful. So from now on, you, Enid and Wednesday aren’t allowed out of the campus after 7pm. I will make sure someone will be checking if you left or not,” your mother said and you watched her with her eyes wide open.
“In any case?” You asked and fixed your eyes with your mothers. You just connected with her thoughts and she smiled.
“What would you like?”
“Go for a walk with Enid,” you announced to your mother and you waited for her response.
“Is that a date?”
“If you let us out, it can be,” and with that you canceled the eye contact and looked at Enid.
“I will keep a close eye on you three,” your mother said and with that you knew that she agreed with your plan. You just smiled and Enid nodded her head only.
