When you’re done catching up on the horror flicks that scarred you as a child, you should hop on YouTube and check out CODEGIRL. It’s a true story about the power of young women and technology, and it’s got an amazing message. Available on YouTube and in theaters November 1

Signal boost.  I wish it hadn’t taken me until after college, after I’d gotten an MA in English, to learn how to program and decide to make that my career.  Hell, I was a computer-obsessed kid who taught herself HTML in grade school; most of my friends (all guys, of course) were being directed towards C++ classes by high school.  I was pushed toward print layout and design.  The lost time still irritates me.  I’m so glad there are more initiatives like this these days.
