Emilia King didn’t know what she was thinking, staring at Sera’s front door, a hand raised to one incendiary buzzer. Maybe she wasn’t thinking at all... habit and grief causing her to end up at a place that always been considered a second home. Ever since the accident, silence had fallen between the girls, the only form of communication being one single letter. It’s confusing and painful… Believe me, I know. But it’s for the best. Was it? Emilia had reached a crossroads, watching as the world she knew burnt to ash the moment a bullet stole her mother away. The people she thought she knew had been lying to her the day they step foot in her life- granted it was for her own protection. That still didn’t change or ease the anger that took to a fragile heart. For the first time, she felt alone despite being surrounded by people at any given minute of the day.
It hadn’t been easy to slip out of the watchful eye of her detail. She’d stopped by a coffee shop, promising to run in and out of the restroom. After all, it wasn’t like two grown men would flank a stall. They all still saw her as a shocked kid, incapable of telling a lie... The next thing she knew, Emilia pulled herself out of a back window and hit the Montreal pavement running. It was a bold move she would’ve never attempted before, compliant with whatever rules and conditions were in place. Now? Things were changing, she was changing. Whether it was for the best or the worst she wasn’t sure yet. Chewing the inside of her cheek, she could feel her heart drop as the door creaked open. There was no turning back.
