🍎 Who Am I?
Since I was three years old, teaching has been my dream. When I was seven, I asked for a chalkboard instead of a Barbie for Christmas...weird child, right? In elementary school, I would write practice tests for my younger sister, and mark them with a pink, glittery pen...the dedication! Well, all that practice came in handy as I am almost done my education degree at university! 👩🏼🎓
🍎 The Issue:
However, throughout my four years, I have often questioned my role as a future educator. Will it matter? What will my impact be? What is my philosophy of education? I was fortunate enough to have a teacher for a mom and amazing professors to ponder these questions with, but as for other education students my age, I found it difficult to discuss my fears, excitements, and confusions with them.
🍎 Why Technology Works:
I want to explore what I have learned about teaching already and what I will continue to learn through this blog. Tumblr is a great place for this as I want to discover the challenges and benefits of education with peers my age, and hopefully, this medium will facilitate that. Education is also closely linked to social media to help students and teachers connect and share information. Just take a look here: https://www.businessinsider.com/how-technology-is-shaping-the-future-of-education-2017-12#even-with-technology-being-used-in-more-and-more-classrooms-teachers-will-be-as-important-as-ever-3. The video I shared above was to give a little inspiration to you, my fellow education students. I wanted to show that social media adds an emotional and creative link to the backbone of pedagogy- which sounds complicated, but it’s really just a fancy way to say that technology makes education and learning more fun!
🍎 The Purpose of This Blog:
Overall, while I may not know everything, I hope to help you, another aspiring teacher, feel a little less alone and maybe a little more excited about your journey into the classroom. I want to bring up conversations, questions, and ideas about teaching that I have learned and will continue to learn throughout my own journey. In other words, I hope this Tumblr account can help all of us anxiety-ridden strangers feel better about our future influence over young minds!
I hope you enjoy the ideas that I share!
