This has been heavy on my heart today. I put this on Twitter but I’m putting it here too. ••• I’m not a practicing Christian at this point. Haven’t been for years. I still believe in God, loosely, and Christ. And I’m going to be very real with you right now. I will take whatever sentence the powers that be give me at the end of days knowing I lived according to what I feel is right, which is the protection and uplifting of my fellow man. ••• I will not sit by and be silent. I don’t know what to do and I know I don’t have it all my damn self, but I will learn and I WILL. DO. BETTER. I owe it to the rest of mankind to DO BETTER. We all do. We’re not in this life alone. We are all brothers and sisters and I will not let my family go silently because some people think they’re better than others. ••• We have an opportunity here to make life better for others. This is it. Support your brothers and sisters of color. Listen to them. Lift their words and their voices. Sheild then. Give them rest and comfort. ••• Do not give them the task of teaching you. Do not give them more work. They are fighting for their lives and their children’s lives and their siblings lives and their parents lives. Do the work yourself. ••• Listen. Read. Watch. Uplift. Guard. Protect. This ain’t about us, but I’m telling you now...I’m calling all of us (myself included) out. We need to be noisy af but not drown out the voices of the people who are hurting. ••• I’ve been retweeting a lot today and I’m going to do more.
