The commenting period for the comment party has started!
Comment on something you are reading, watching or listening to now :D
Share with us where you commented, the comment you left and what you liked about it!
Take a moment to cheer for someone else's comment and chat about your shared interests!
Once you have submitted two comments to this blog I will ask what character you want me to draw and you will get a sketch! This is so you have a milestone to work towards. Once you submit five comments you will get a second sketch!
Have fun and remember this is to acknowledge the happiness the author gave you!
Youtube
Here are some places to start if you don't know what to comment on-
If you have watched something amazing recently leave a comment! It can be a podcast, tutorial, analysis, animation or story. Go through your history and think about videos you enjoyed, the creator would love to know what you thought and how you felt!
Tumblr
Go through your likes/reblogs and leave a comment!
You can also send an ask to your favourite blogs to let them know how much they mean to you.
There are blogs dedicated to leaving nice comments like @trafficblrpositivityproject and @mcyt-cc-positivity-project. If you want a blog for a specific fandom, search 'positivity project' with the fandom name and you might find one!
How to submit a comment to the party-
Ao3
Go through your bookmarks and leave a comment on something you've already read.
You can search fics by how many comments they have. In the Filters menu, select sort by comments (it's a drop-down at the top), this will put the works with the most comments first, then you can navigate directly to the last page of the search where you are likely to find fics that have gone un-commented. Make someone's day by giving an author their first comment ^-^
Alternatively, @nomorezerocomments has a spreadsheet with fics that need comments! Head over to their blog to find it then search for the fandoms you like and comment on a fic!
You can submit comments as an ask or make a post @'ing me. To support other participants in this comment party you can reblog their post, comment on it or send an ask to this blog pointing out that you liked what they did.
What is a comment party? It's where we come together with something we like and celebrate that we told the author we enjoyed what they made! This can be a fic, a Tumblr post, a YouTube video or anything else!
I attended a few of these in Fic Fight and it broke through my initial hesitation with commenting! Doing it together and gushing about what we read made it fun!
We also got points each time we left a comment and in no time I was breaking my personal high score for commenting because of the dopamine rush. To mimic that experience I want participants to share the comment they left with this blog, encourage others in the comment party by cheering for their comments and when you hit the milestone of 2 and 5 comments I will give you a reward! (The reward is a sketch of your favourite character)
Please join me between 1am UTC 15th to 1am UTC 16th to comment on something you recently read, watched or listened to!
It's just another way to spread positivity and have fun! :D
This blog's goal is to encourage commenting. Leave comments on the source material, YouTube, AO3, Tumblr and all the spaces where you partake in fandom! If you liked something tell the creator! If it's stuck in your brain let them know!
You can send asks to this blog, make a post @'ing us or simply comment and feel good that you made someone's day!
We will celebrate you and your comments! We will help you write your comments the way you want! This blog will make posts on different ways to comment (to help inspire your brain) and we are happy to receive asks hearing about your commenting journey! (Are you an enthusiastic commenter? Are you shy? Or maybe the way you comment has changed over time.)
Rules
Always be nice
We do not accept AI works or comments
Enjoy yourself!
Heads up
This blog is run by one person and will be attended to in her free time (so response times may vary)
Since this is a multi-fandom blog make sure to state which fandom you are talking about!
We will run events randomly to make commenting fun! So follow the blog to keep updated! :D
Thanks @averystressedcrow for letting me share this screenshot! I felt it captured the vibe I often feel after getting a comment! A lot of excitement and so much energy that you want to write more! ^-^ <3 <3 <3
This blog was originally for AO3 comments... but what are some other places we can comment in and support?
Other Writing Sites-
Fanfic.net, Wattpad, etc. I have never used these but if you do, go ahead and comment!
Tumblr-
Commenting is not common on Tumblr unless it is already a popular post. Make the change by saying something nice on a post! (And while you are there hit the reblog button)
Whether it is a text post, a gif, a piece of art or some writing, leave a comment!
TickTock-
Comment on edits, cosplays, videos and more! Some fans love making short videos to show off their hard work and share their love for a fandom! ^-^
YouTube-
There are plenty of fans on YouTube who make animations, analysis videos, compilations and more! Let them know you like their stuff! The YouTube algorithm is not kind and a comment can be a fan's silver lining!
Note: Point out what you love about your favourite Content Creators as well! If you are into MCYT like I am just remember they need positive interactions as much as their fans do! Leave a comment on their YouTube vid. They pay attention to their fandom even when what is being said isn't aimed at them. They can lose motivation and it's important we talk to them through their comment section and show our support!
Ao3-
AO3 authors are just fans who want to share their stories. Hits and Kudos do not have a soul, they do not send a message.
What did their readers feel? Did they laugh or cry? Where were they when they read the story?
By leaving a comment you talk to the authors. "I liked this, this scared me or I went on a rollercoaster of emotions."
Say something before you click off a good fic you just finished. Without comments (and only kudos to stare at) authors get trapped in the loop of checking their stats.
Source Material-
If your fandom comes from watching a movie, tv show or reading a book then let the creators know you like it! They often hear complaints from their fans but you can send them a nice comment to make their day!
Podcasts-
Podcasters need support too! Let them know your favourite part and engage with the questions they ask the audience!
