17 and your dear Levi~
Leviathan x GN! Reader
17. Mutual Pining
You never intended on revealing your true feelings at all, much less to Asmodeus. But here you were, backed into a corner with a moisturizing mask on your face and the demon applying a similar one to himself.
Gossiping and chatting with Asmo was one of your favorite things, it was a great way to de-stress and he always had the juiciest details to share. It didn't hurt that he also let you dip into his stockpile of skincare products.
But this was different. This was much closer to home; and you thought you'd been far subtler than to just hang your proverbial laundry out for anyone to see.
Asmodeus was observant, however. Especially to matters of the heart. So he knew, probably before you did, that you harbored feelings for his older brother. And now he was determined to see some progress made. Watching the two of you pine for each other without making any moves was downright infuriating! Not to mention boring. So, being the doting little brother that he was, Asmo took it upon himself to give you both a little shove in the right direction.
"Come on, darling, it's written all over your face! Just tell me who it is, I promise I won't say a word!" He made a zipping motion over his lips as if to seal them shut.
"I don't know, Asmo, I don't want to make things awkward for anyone."
"Nonsense! I don't know a man or woman in all the three realms that wouldn't just adore to have your affections! I'd say you're the most desired creature, aside from me, of course!" He smoothed the edges of the sheet mask down with his perfectly manicured fingers and then turned to you.
Any minute now Levi would be making his way down to Asmo's room, and in order for his plan to work, he had to get you talking. Fast.
"Well, can you at least tell me about him? Let me try to guess this mysterious suitor?" He huffed, crossing one porcelain leg over the other. You watched the pink silk of his robe split to reveal the smoothness of his thighs as you considered it.
Then, your gaze fell to your lap, where your hands fiddled with the fabric of your clothing. "Fine." You digressed.
"The man I like... he's unlike anyone I've ever met before," you recalled everything about Leviathan that had caught your attention initially. From the softness of his unusually colored hair, to gushing about anime and games with him, to the more intimate sides of him that'd you've gotten to know over your stay in the Devildom.
"He's handsome, for one. Not in a traditional sense but that just adds to his appeal. And he's fun, he always manages to make me laugh, to cheer me up when I'm sad. We really have the best time together, it's never dull when I'm with him. But, that being said, there's plenty of quiet moments, too."
"Moments where he tucks me under his arm while we watch TV, or where we're both reading together. Moments where he hums quietly to himself when he thinks I'm not paying attention."
"We have so many things in common, so we always have things to talk about, but we're different enough that things are never monotonous or boring."
"He makes me feel like home, I guess. I'm always comfortable around him, he's never made me feel bad for being myself wholly and unabashedly. And when I'm with him, it's the most like home I've felt since coming here."
You ended your confession on a bit of a somber note, unaware that just on the other side of the door, Leviathan had paused to listen. He didn't mean to! But he heard just the smallest snippet of your conversation and his curiosity was piqued.
So you were talking about the person you like. For a moment, a stupid, fleeting moment, he thought maybe it could be him. But that was wishful thinking, of course. There's no way you'd like someone like him.
The more you talked the further his heart sank. The person you liked was someone incredible. Someone Levi could only attempt at being.
Oh, how he tried to be those things for you. To give you comfort and a safe place and a little slice of home away from home. But, it seemed, despite his best efforts, someone had beaten him to it.
He should've known that you'd fall for whoever it is you're talking about. Handsome, you'd said. Funny, you'd said. In fact, Levi didn't think he fit under any of the criteria you'd listed, and it broke his heart.
But he didn't want to ruin things. Asmo had offered to buy him the limited run Ruri-chan cosmetics line if he'd let him do some basic skincare on the older brother. Ruri-chan was at stake!! He couldn't just walk away! There'd be time for tears and self-pity once this was all said and done.
So, once you finished your spiel, he opened the door.
"Alright, I'm here Asmo, let's get this over with." He said, feigning disinterest. "Oh, you're here!"
You waved shyly and then shot Asmo a look. You were seconds away from revealing your feelings to the man who held them! You had a sneaking suspicion that Asmodeus had planned this.
Your attention was dragged away from your thoughts as Asmo stood abruptly, "I'm so glad you could make it!" He hummed, walking around Levi to push him further into the room. Asmo all but forced Levi to sit on the bed beside you.
You said an awkward greeting, which he returned, while Asmo pulled a pink plastic bin from seemingly nowhere and began digging through it. You could hear the distinct plastic clatter of beauty products as he searched for whatever he was looking for.
"You look silly," Levi said with a small, teasing grin. You'd almost forgotten about the face mask.
You smiled back and peeled it off, discarding it in the small waste-bin beside Asmo's vanity. As you spoke, you massaged the remaining moisturizer into your skin.
"What can I say? Beauty is pain," you joked, and he chuckled before opening his mouth only to be interrupted by Asmo.
"Darn I can't find it! You two wait right here. I think I left it with Belphie. Or maybe Satan? Augh!" He left in a flurry, leaving you and Levi alone in his room.
Asmodeus, knowing full well he'd never leave any important skincare products with any of his brothers, casually walked down the hall with no intention on coming back for a good, long while.
Silence stretched between you and Leviathan, more awkward than it had ever been. You were thinking about how close you came to him hearing you. How badly you did want to confess but how nervous you were to do so. What if it ruined your friendship forever and you lost the only piece of home you had here?
Meanwhile, Levi was trying to figure out who this mystery person was. He ran through all of his brothers and everyone at RAD, the angels and Solomon and couldn't figure it out.
The tension between you was palpable and with a heavy sigh you flopped back onto Asmo's plush bed and groaned.
As he often did, Levi mirrored your movements in an exaggerated manner, turning his head to look at you with a small smile. "So, you gonna tell me what's on your mind or are you going to keep being dramatic?"
You nudged his shoulder with yours, grinning, and scooted closer so that your side was pressed against his. This sort of physical intimacy wasn't uncommon between you two. He often pulled you against him, or laid on you when you were hanging out casually.
You met his gaze, and immediately felt heat creep up the back of your neck. "I-.."
You paused, lost in an orange sunset. He really was beautiful, handsome in ways unlike his brothers. "Have you ever been in love?"
He blinked owlishly at you, cleared his throat, then looked away. "Yeah, why?"
"How did you know?"
"Know what? That I was in love?"
You nodded, and for a moment he wanted to say something about Ruri-chan, to play it off like it wasn't a big deal. Only, it was a big deal. Leviathan thought for a few moments on how to tell you without giving himself away. Afterall, you already had someone you were into.
"Well," he started, rolling onto his side and propping his head up on one hand to look at you once more, "I guess it's thish feeling of, when you're with them, you kind of feel... complete? Like no matter where you are, you're comfortable because they're beside you. Maybe, you feel like you can do anything as long as they're going to support you."
He paused, picking at a loose thread on Asmo's quilt, "It's really hard to put it into words, but I think you just know. Why? You got your eye on someone?" He tried to sound teasing, he really, really did, but despite it, disappointment laced his words.
You nodded, "Yeah... yeah I do, and I think I love him."
Oh, if only you knew the way Levi's heart leapt into his throat when you said those words while looking directly at him. If only you knew the way it made his eyes prickle with tears because he so desperately wanted that person to be him.
He swallowed back those feelings, picked a little more frantically at the thread. "Yeah? Who is it?"
He didn't want to know. He regretted asking as soon as the question left his lips. And you stopped, stared at him, because he's right there. You could just tell him. But wouldn't that ruin things?
"Levi," you said in a whisper.
"Yeah?"
"Levi."
"What? What is it?"
"It's you. Levi."
"That's a real funny joke," he said humorlessly. "But seriously, who is it? And don't mess around with me, you know my heart can't take it."
"I am being serious," you said, rolling onto your side to meet him, to reach out and take the hand that was picking frantically at the thread now, and bring it to your lips. "I love you. And if you don't feel the same just forget I -"
You were on your back before you could finish with Levi on top of you. His cheeks were flushed a pretty pink and there was a frantic look in his eyes.
"Don't. Don't fuck with me, don't say that if you don't really mean it," he said, an edge to his voice you'd never heard before. He looked...scared.
You reached up and brushed your fingertips along his cheek just in time to see his lip quiver. Why would he be so close to crying? Unless... unless he felt the same way?
"I'm not, I really mean it."
He crashed into you like a tidal wave, pressing his lips to yours in a crushing kiss, leaning more of his body weight onto you, tangling his fingers in your hair as he devoured you. It was as if he just couldn't get close enough as his tongue slithered into your mouth and his thumb ran soothing circles along your hip. He was everything in that moment, all you could see, hear, touch, taste, and you loved it.
A soft hum ripped from his throat when you kissed him back, when you wrapped your arms around him and scratched softly at the nape of his neck. After a moment he had to pull away, panting.
"I love you too, gods I love you so much."
